MODX having a hard time on Rackspace Cloud Sites

yes - this is a new install of modx and yes I cleared the cache manually about 500 times ;-)

Just want to make sure this doesn't get lost in the shuffle - my implementation has stabilized and everything is functional, except that I keep having to toggle FLOCK on and off depending on whether I want the front-end or the back-end to work properly. If I get time I'm planning to try to solve the problem of listing processors not working with FLOCK off - I think I have an idea of what's causing that but I'll have to do some fiddling.

Oh - and Rackspace has upgraded their Cron server, so the PHP 5.2 incompatibility shouldn't be a problem for people in Rackspace Cloud Sites any more - although it is presumably still a problem in general if we need to maintain 5.2 compatibility.

Has there even been any official word from MODx on this issue? Where are we at? It's quiet because we've either had mild success with 2.2.7 or have had to move site to a new hosting environment.

I still have a huge multi-context site that 2.2.7 is somewhat helping, I still have to keep an eye on it and clear cache until things return. The thought of migrating this site is a nightmare. It houses about 7 sites and each site has multiple domains pointing to them.

I have had minimal success with 2.2.7 to date, all the sites that had issues before it was installed still had issues after it was installed...and the issue frequency of corrupted cache seemed to increase. We solved the issue by moving all but a few Revolution sites off of RSCS to our cloud server and are working to move all of our sites. There is no sense in paying for RSCS when the setup cannot be trusted. We've been dealing with this for nearly a year now with no firm resolution.

although I can't speak for Opengeek entirely. I've given him access to a 2.2.7 install on my Rackspace hosting and he is looking into it. So progress is being made.

I'm sure there will be more information later. And I'll be happy to pass on anything but I'm sure Opengeek will when he's ready.

Some somewhat self promotion here.

I've been working with my sys admin, He's developed a nice cloud server image for us. Uses PHP-FPM / NGNIX configured for MODx, has a nice client setup script. We paired this server with a CloudDB server from rackspace, and our sites scream... under 100ms for first byte most times.

I have some sites that are running fine still on cloudsites, but I'm not pushing anything else there.... bottom line is, for about $85/m +plus sys admin time. we've got an awesome platform.

I still use cloud sites for site setup / email / DNS .. just not the actual site.

Sounded like he'd be willing to setup other's if you're interested, PM me. I get nothing directly out of it.

So what's up?! Is this just going to be ignored? My patience is all but gone. I have sites being held together by gum, it seems.

2.2.7 did not solve this problem. At best it was a band-aid. A site might be ok, until you make an edit and hit save. Then it's the "clear and delete cache game". It's getting old.

My company has too many sites on Rack Space Cloud. They are not going away and I am not migrating a ton of sites. I will drop MODx and go back to using actual files before I migrate sites to another location. Too many domains and SSLs involved.

I've been extremely patient since this issue started affecting me and our sites back in October or November. 5 months later and we have nothing.

Do you guys have any intention of fixing this?

I'm not a programmer, and I shouldn't have to be to use MODx. I should not have to go through what many here have done to try and stabilize this issue.

When's the last time we even had an update? There hasn't been one in this post.

I'll be honest, I don't believe there is a solution that is going to work on this service as long as there is no kernel level solution for locking a file that works on their NFS deployment. I have not had any luck avoiding the exclusive locking problem on Rackspace Cloud Sites' NFS mounts, and until someone can find or create a solution that works, I'm personally at a loss on what to do.

If you or any other Rackspace Cloud Sites users find that solution, I would love to know how to implement it...

Spacecity- even though I feel equally frustrated - the issue is how php is operating on the rackspace cloud. It's a rackspace issue to fix. As I have been hosting on the RS cloud I have seen a number of issues now that has me thinking twice about it.
