What options do i have with regard to extensions ? Are they available for free, can you maybe give a website?

If you’re using Revolution, you can install any compatible extras from within the manager - System > Package Management

Thanks i guess i overlooked it!

          Hi, a newbie here smiley

I have been reading and learning about MODX for 3 days, and so far i love it.

I'm doing a website for a client and wanted to do it with MODx, so i installed it,
did some tutorials, and i have done the homepage with 2 TVs and getResources to make some news, and other 3 simple pages.

          Now i have 2 doubts:
1.- In my homepage i have the latest news, so to get the getResouces snippet to work i had to make my homepage a container, and then a news container as a child.. i don't want that structure, how can i call a resource from another document, not necessarily a child?
2.- I need to do a products catalog, do you know if there's an extra for that, or a tutorial???

          Thanks!

          2.-

Use one of the parameters &parents or &resources. See

Yes, If you want to make a catalogue, you should use getResources. Create a parent folder, put all catalogue items in that and then set that as the parent folder in your getr call.

                Best regards,
                William

                      Need help choosing a CMS.

I am looking for a CMS that will allow me to convert an existing site over from plain html to CMS and keep all of my original CMS.

The reason I want to convert my existing site over to CMS is that I want to allow people to sign up and create their own customized version of my existing site.

                      For example:
If my site is www.mysite.com and Bob signs up, his page would be www.mysite.com/bob

www.mysite.com/bob would look just like www.mysite.com except bob could add links to his favorite websites

I have been reading some articles and such and MODX seems to come up often as a CMS that will allow me to retain my original HTML. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how useful MODX would be for the above explained application, basically automated generation of 1 page with each user having the ability to modify it slightly.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you
