Hi bwileyvp,
If having complete control over your markup is your thing, then MODX is definitely a great answer. It should be relatively easy to create a Plugin that creates pages for members when they register, and for them to have the ability to modify the content of their page without having to have a Manager login.
Welcome to MODX and good luck with your project!

It's hard to beat MODX for all the tasks you mention. You can definitely keep all your HTML (though any embedded PHP code will have to be moved into snippets).
The only difficulty will be if you want to restrict users so they can only see their own pages. It's easy to do, but somewhat tricky to figure out how to do it. The plugin that operates when the user registers will have to create the page, put it in a resource group, put the user in a unique user group, create security rules that give the user access to only that resource group, and then forward the user to his or her page.
If you use the NewsPublisher extra (which allows front-end editing of resources), you could instead forward the user to the NewsPublisher Editor with their page already loaded.
The first step will be porting your site to MODX. This might help with that:

Hello,
Forgive me if this question is already asked before, i coulnt find anything explaining it proper.
Are you allowed as a company to use MODX for a customers website?
Does this bring any costs with that?
Thanks in advance
Greetings,
Alexander

Hi Alexander! yes you can use modx for a company website, most of us do. No, MODX is open Source. It is free.
But that doesnt mean it doesn't cost anything. A lot of people put in time and effort to make MODX what it is. So the wise thing to do, and I think the right thing to do is to donate and contribute to MODX if you use it. hope that helps.
