    Starting developing in MODX Revo. Got a problem with writing snippets, can’t find function list like one for Evo here http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/API:DocumentParser
    For exmaple I need to build a simple menu and don’t want to use wayfinder.
    In Evo I just go like this:
    <?
      $list = $modx->getDocumentChildren(0,1,0,"*","hidemenu=0");
      foreach ($list as $li) echo $modx->parseChunk("menu_td",$li,"[+","+]");
    ?>

    And that’s it. But this does not work in Revo. So what do I need to use?

    I think Wayfinder would do exactly that pretty easily, but in Revo, I think it would look something like this:

    $list = $modx->getCollection('modResource', array('parent'=>'0', 'published'=>'1','deleted'=>'0');
    foreach($list as $li) {
    $output .= $modx->getChunk('menu_td',$li->toArray());
    }
    return $output;

    You’ll have to change the placeholders in the menu_td chunk to this form:

    [[+placeholderName]]

    That will give you the immediate children. If you want children of children, you’d have to use $modx->getChildIds() or $resource->getMany(’modResource’,’Children’);

      Hi, I have just finished installing v 2.0 into my site and did an Import of the HTML files. have figure out that I needed to add TinyMCE before I can edit any pages. Did minor edit and hit Save with Publish ticked. I expected it to change the LIVE site but it didnt. I have a horrible feeling MODx doesnt work this way ....Am I right?

      It sounds right to me. You may have to clear the cache and/or empty your browser cache.

        BobRay Thanks alot. But can you please point me to some place where I can find info about those functions? Some place like http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/API for MODx Evo.

            Still having trouble with EasyPoll...

            I’m starting to doubt whether anyone has ever successfully installed polling on a MODx Evo site:

              I have a site that is currently in use, and I want to rebuild it with MODx. Is it possible, or practical, to install and build the new site on a different/test server until everything is working, and then simply FTP the files/folders to the live server? How do people build and test new sites before over-writing the current sites? My concerns would be with broken links and database setup, but I’m sure there’s a much easier way. Thx.

                Yes, that’s the usual method.

                Here’s the general procedure: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location

                It varies a little depending on the version of MODx.

                  Hello Someone. I just want the most basic CMS for a bit of text for a few pages of a simple site. How much do I need to know to do this? I use Dreamweaver and the site is already done. www.latonnellerie.com.

                  Been recommended ModX so hope that I can stick with this after downloading loads that just seem too do more than I need and too hard to learn.

                    Why not continue to use Dreamweaver?

                      To set up a site like www.latonnellerie.com (beautiful house & beautiful region wink ) you need:

                      With Evo:
                      - create a MODx template for your entire site
                      - create MODx documents (based on the template) for each page of your site

                      - use the wayfinder snippet to set up the 2 menus
                      - use the eform snippet to set the booking and the contact form
                      - use the googleMap snippet for the location page

                      With Revo: replace eform by formIt and googleMap by googleMapTv.
