Please review the README.txt from the download, there are instructions on how to implement One core file *hack* to be able to use also for the FileManager... grin

Unfortunately, at this time, a core hack is required until we can get a request for the new System Event added....

Thanks very much! I am glad I wasn’t missing something obvious! smiley I’ll take a look at the core hack.

Great work on a great plugin.

        Awesome !
+ 1 to add it to the next release.
A widh:a shortcut to save the form (particulary in the manager)
On linux with Firefox 2.0 or epiphany the scroll is slow. I see the doc but for the manager there is no script to insert so how I can use a compressed and perhaps faster file to use in the manager ?

        Keep the good work !

I’m not sure what you’re saying here, but there is a keyboard shortcut (CTRL+S) for saving the content. I personally have not tested this on Linux/Mac.

As for the slow scrolling, I have seen this before, specifically in IE/Win. EditArea states that it is "intended for small bodies of text" ...unfortunately, if you’re like me, you like to use it for everything! Even the large content... point being, when used with large content, that’s when the performance becomes noticeably different.

However, if you disable syntax highlighting (Toggle editor) scrolling issue isn’t a problem. It might be a good idea for us to create a hotkey shortcut for Toggling highlighting (CTRL+H ?) so you can quickly toggle off, scroll around, etc and toggle back on [primarily for editing the larger texts]...just a thought...

            Thank your for this answer,
what I mean is a shortcut key that do the save of the content as I hit the "save" button in the manager button bar (ie save my snippet modifications in the db), CTRL-S will save the page in a file (on most browser).

The toogle highlight shortcut is a very good idea, but as CTRL-H is often used to show/hide the history of the browser, wouldn’t it be interract with browser shortcut ?
Perhaps an option in the configuration of the plugin which allow the user to choice his own could be a good way.

I’m pretty sure that you can hijack any event in invoked by the DOM...in one way or another. In otherwords, the reason you can use the CTRL+S feature of EditArea plugin, is because it was programmed to listen to an event (EventHandler), and respond to that event once it is heard. In the case of our CTRL+S shortcut, we
              return false;
to prevent the "Save" feature of the Browser from ever occurring. End result? CTRL+S simply calls on MODx "save" icon’s onClick() function, and saves the doc/chunk/snippet/plugin, etc.

Also, since within the manager, the odds of you actually wanting to Save that document’s HTML source, or wanting to view the History--all while actively editing a document...are probably pretty slim.

However, I really like your idea of users setting their own hot-keys. It’d be cool to build a cookie-based, "plugin" config. manager for EditArea, where users could submit add-ons, such as: Bookmarks (references to line #’s or function() names, etc.), Browse to Image (as seen on TinyMCE), etc. With EditArea’s built-in methods of handling plugins, it’d actually be fairly easy. cool

Indeed, in the current version of EditArea, the CTRL+H was not correctly handled on IE... I will correct this ASAP wink

This "problem" is corrected in the last SVN version of EditArea Plugin for MODx (Rev.31). You can access the SVN repository with these parameters :

Thanks for the release! I have updated the repository to Rev.31 (distro version 0.3.1)...the old Control+Tab bug was causing problems by accidental spaces/tabs being inserted, causing display/code to break, plus a few other improvements.

I encourage everyone using tabbed-browsing and EditArea plugin to upgrade to v0.3.1+ in the repository to help avoid any accidental white-space insertion from switching browser tabs via "CTRL+TAB" while editing...

I’m trying to get the core file *hack* working, and inserted the lines in footer.inc.php.

Unfortunately EditArea is only invoked when i view the contents of a file and not if I edit them.

                      Any hints?

BTW. My setup is modx 0.9.6 RC2 and EditArea 0.3.1
