Support/Comments for EZfaq

I’m adding the EZFAQ to my site, but the expand answers option isn’t working. Here is my code:


When I view the page, it doesn’t have any questions expanded. Did I set this up wrong?

Hmmm ... you’ve done it right. It doesn’t work for me either. TBH, I’ve never actually used that option (and I guess no one else has either ). I’ll try to take a look at it. It may be a js conflict or a plain old bug.

Try adding &setPersist=`0` to the snippet tag. If that doesn’t work, add &collapsePrevious=`0`.

Also, I believe the docs are wrong, you need to list *all* the ones you want expanded.

&defaultExpanded=`0,3` will expand only items 1 and 4.

Let me know if that works.

That worked. And yes, you have to list all the items that need to be expanded. For example, `0,1,2`

I was tearing my hair out because I had a &setPersist=`1` at the end of the tag that I didn’t notice.

Loving the FAQ but we had a problem that IE would not play, and based on a suggestion you made earlier in the postings we had to switch off the rich text editor on the q&a page and remove all the <p> tags

After doing this it works on FF and IE

However, it is a bit of a bind for customer updating, as we have to explain that they have to input and update in raw html, including adding in raw code to the answers to create lists and paragraphs within an answer.

The problem seems that the rich text editor generates <p> tags around the questions and answers and after output by the snippet the page has extra <p> tags which IE can’t handle. I could not work out how to allow for that in the snippet and stip them out or change the formatting somehow to get it to work.

If I am right on the cause and effect then I’m kinda posting just so anyone with an issue sees that they need the Q&A page to be raw text in order for this to work.

That is unless you know how to get around it!

It’s a good tip. I use raw text and just put

in for separating paragraphs.

BTW, I just posted a new version of EZfaq for the current version of MODx Revolution.

This is probably a very nooby comment but just wanted to mention this in case anyone else has the problem.

I pasted the snippet call into the content area of the FAQs page, but forgot to turn off rich text. It did not work, although it looked as though it should. After going through instructions again, I opened html version of page and pasted the call there. Voila!

Using Evo 1.0.3 - no (other) problems, right?

None that I know of.

I am having some problems with formatting.

1. Many of my faqs have answers that are two <p>s long, and the font-size is not consistent between the two (one very small, the next too large; inheritance?). Also, I’d really like a break between the <p>s (there is no margin between top para and bottom para).

2. I am also unable to determine how to decrease the distance between the question and the answer.

Bump in the road...help?
