The problem here is that HTML is a code, and there still is no such thing as a foolproof code generator. Even Word has been know to totally mess up a document’s format on occasion, and many professional document publishers still use Emacs to code Tex and LaTex more-or-less by hand.
Agreed, that’s why I was thinking of quicktags + livepreview for Textile or Markdown, which generate valid and semantic code.
As usual, the problem is not proficient users who can use a syntax like Textile or Markdown, but the clients who ask for WYSIWYG... it’s amazing that will all the great things created for the web we still are in the stone ages as far as content creation for the non-savvy is doomed to remain tag souped content...

A little update on what I’ve been working on for TinyMCE. Right now, I’m working on rolling out the 2.0.5.1 update of TinyMCE. Lot’s of bug fixes for some rather annoying behavior in it. Another thing I’m doing to it is implementing language selection for it. Within the manager, I’m setting it to where its language will be set to whatever language is set in the manager itself. I’m working out how I want to handle language selection from the front-end. I might just make it a global selection on the configuration page.
Oh...and I checked out some of the links provided. Hmm...I kinda like the Hydrogen plugin. I’ll need to download it and play with it but it looks promising at the moment. I’ll keep the other suggestions in mind when I do the 2.0.5.1 update.

OK, Any Tiny Mice gurus I could use a hand here.
Trying to hack the TinyMCE plugin js call to include the native TinyMCE init:
tinyMCE.init({
...
height : "800"
});
To resize the editor window when you click "Quick edit" I want it roughly twice the size it is (about 300px)
Trying to insert the init call in the module js sections breaks the js call. Inserting a new JS call does nothing...
where should I put the custom tinymce.init call?
Thanks
JW
Try looking in the following file:
/assets/modules/quick_edit/javascript/output.js
Around line 16 you should see the following code:
var settings = 'width=400, height=300, toolbar=0, menubar=0, status=0, alwaysRaised=1, dependent=1, resizable=1';
Change the height, save the file, flush the cache in your browser, and see if that does the trick.

Well, it looks like Quickedit opens the window the size I specify and as soon as RTE/TinyMCE loads it jumps to default.
Like so: flash * Flash.<-- Makes waving motions with hands.

Ah...I see what you mean! Well then...looks like another little quirk to add to my list! I’ll try and get a fix out ASAP.
