Hi there, I’ve encountered a strange URL issue, whenever I insert either a link or an image I get the following prepended onto the url: "/development/swellguys.co.za/manager/" This is the path from the webserver html folder. Where or how do I fix this problem as I’m really keen to ditch F(insert vowel)CKEditor.
Thanks for any light you can shed on the subject.
I don’t know if this will help or not. I believe WordPress uses a mutant version of TinyMCE. There’s a PlugIn for Wordpress available here that is a really very good Image Manager that I’ve installed for clients:

Maybe it can be somehow ported into ModX or included somehow. Not being a code wizard I don’t know, but I figured someone could look and if nothing else there might be a couple ideas there in how he did what he did.
That would be amazing indeed, I am SO tired of FCK !
Thanks for the pointer

I think any of us who are into standards compliance are horrified the first time we look at the code the FCK editor produces. "br" instead of "p" tags??? How . . . 90’s!!!

I can see how it would do that; how would it know to start a <p> tag, then end with a </p> tag? Word processors use a different tagging syntax, so it’s easier for them to start a paragraph (usually on a double return). Most word processors will insert a cr/lf on a single return, the document equivilent of a
. As it is, you can highlight a block of text and select the "normal" formatting to enclose the text in <p> tags.
Other editors pretty much do it automatically, whereas FCK does not.
That puts my vote squarely against FCK since telling clients to do an extra step when they write just to generate clean code is NOT something that’s gonna fly . . .

I see. I don’t use it anyway, and have never tried any of the others, so I wasn’t aware of that.
I’ve come to appreciate anything that keeps me from getting panicked client calls and/or emails re MY SITE IS ROYALLY SCREWED UP! HELP! so an editor that doesn’t generate tag soup is one more piece of insurance against such occurrences. In the same spirit I’ve gotten into the habit of restyling "cite" which would by default generate italics -- well documented IE Bug Creators.
Yeah well, I think most of us have been there with clients... It can become a real nightmare, though TinyMCE is really performing better than others...
But it still isn’t satisfactory to me... I had
looked into the WYSIWYM concept but I don’t know what will come out of it.
I had also looked for an alternative back in my Textpattern days with a Textile’s quicktag formatting toolbar, and wondered if live preview couldn’t achieve an alternative to WYSIWYG but nothing has come out of it.
These days I am wondering if AJAX couldn’t help the cause here, but it’s only speculation since I wouldn’t know how to code it....
