Same here, I always set my own RTE options to none! But then the first "program" I ever wrote was a batch file made with Edlin for Dos, and I went from there to writing assembly language utilities with Edlin. vi and emacs are for sissies.
I have not used TinyMCE, butI know I am frustrated when FCK adds lots of incorrect /rubbish markeup. Our users need a RTE, we just want a foolproof one that does not screw up. Before starting to look at the product, is TinyMCE really better, well integrated to Modx and reliable?
general questions I know but I am interested in feedback from those of you who have good experience of both products
thanks
From my experience, TinyMCE is an excellent RTE... That’s why I’m wondering why FCK is the one bundled with MODx, maybe I missed something....
Quote from: rthrash at Mar 17, 2006, 11:57 AMWhy don’t we just replace FCK with Tiny as the default since tiny does less of a butchering job of the code anyway, and Safari should work with it soon?
Wasn’t the issue the file/image manager being a paying addon in TinyMCE ?
FCK is butchering code, but it has a free image/file manager... Pending a resource manager of our own, how do we handle this ?

They do offer a payed image manager, but there is an excellent free one available on the forums. I remember having to hack at it a bit to get it to work the way I wanted it to, but I may have grabbed an older version. It would require finding the latest version, but the free one is definitely there somewhere on the forums... So if that was the only issue, the fix would just require finding and packaging that image manager... I’ll see if I can find it and then I’ll post a link.

better yet, post a pre-integrated distribution with a changelog so jeff can get it in our SVN and we’ll include it in the next release... but you better hurry!
