Hi,
Before to setup a test install of KW, may you tell me if:
- It supports multi currencies (I read your documentation , but did not see anything about the choice of a default currency and/or alternate choices for customer).
- The VAT system looks like being very US aware, but I’v probably misunderstood, can you clariry if a default ’normal’ vat rate can be setup once without having to set it up for each product once at a time ?
- Do you have an example of what an order pre-validation page looks like (the synthesis of the order where the customer still have to agree before being charged). [I think about a list of ’Tax included’ prices, total, including xxx VAT, delivery rate].
- Does it generates an official invoice, and if yes, does this document is customizable to be legal, regarding to each country accounting norm.
- For delivery, each webmaster should also be able to setup its own list of shipping possibilities, with each associated prices, and customer must have the choice.
Is this possible ?
A last question : where are you in the translation process?
Thank you

Yeah it’s a shame they have stopped development of this... it was looking very promising.
This is taken directly from their forum page:
"Due to high quantities of spam posts on the forum, it has been shut down for the time being. If active development resumes, the forum may reopen in the next few months. Unfortunately, we have several other projects to work on at the moment. We would like to thank those of you who have downloaded KiweeCommerce. As with any Open Source project, it is always a pleasure to see fellow developers and users excited about what you are doing. I wish we had time to work on it, but it will most likely not recommence development for at least a month or two."
Maybe one should continue where they left off, kiwi seemes promising. And ive been working on E-commerce systems before.
Just to chime in on this thread:
I was very happy when I checked out Kiwee because it looked very promising indeed and took the pressure off of me to package up SHOPx for distribution. I have been extremely overwhelmed for the last few months and I just haven’t been able to get it together in a form that was ready for public use. I still hope that they’ll decide to continue development of Kiwee sometime soon and I’ll be more than willing to contribute the code I have to making it a better resource.
It’s actually not all that hard to make eCommerce work in MODx. I’m using SHOPx on live sites now, one of which has been taking several orders a day for over a year with no problems at all. Because MODx is modular and provides an API and framework to do whatever you want, eCommerce is really no more difficult than any other script package.
The hard part in my opinion is creating a full eCommerce package with all the bells, whistles, and plug-and-play goodies that people have come to expect that works for the multitude of possible gateways, product types, etc. that people want. When I started working on SHOPx (using Susan O’s original code) this was exactly what I didn’t want to recreate: a bloated package that was too complex to be easily modified by others. The ideal in my opinion would be a completely modular structure that would allow people to plug their own code into the core and do exactly what they need, and only what they need.
I don’t know when if ever I’ll have the time to create a full eCommerce package. But perhaps if some other experienced MODx programmers are interested in working on it with me we could release SHOPx as more of an eCommerce "toolkit". Given that 0.9.7 is just over the horizon, perhaps that would be the best way to start building a library of code routines that could potentially be turned into a full MODx eCommerce package to go along with 0.9.7.
I recommend Opencart for consideration. www.opencart.com.
I see no real reason to build an eCommerce solution from scratch in MODx. There are several open-source solutions that can be considered that have the options one could want.
I found Opencart quite easy to integrate into my MODx site at a basic level and I expect it will be fairly easy to hook into at a deeper level if needed. Ok, you get another admin interface, but so what?
I can post a link if there is interest when my small shop goes live in about a week.
Cheers,
Andreas
