The "proper integration" is the problem. The MODx end would have to work with permissions and media sources to generate the desired configuration to initialize the Javascript application.

Indeed Susan, the proper and complete integration aspects are very time consuming, as are the UX and design.

If it would take only around a week, maybe we could crowdsource fund it ?

I think this is a great idea and I'd be very happy to contribute to this initiative.

The only criticism I've had about MODX from my clients has actually been regarding TinyMCE and the Resource Browser. If one of them was improved, we'd be dealing with less support calls.

The NewsPublisher extra has its own file browser because the Manager file browser didn't work well in the front end. The NP browser is done in ExtJS, believe it or not. wink

Hmm. You mean the browser in TinyMCE? It looks exactly like the regular resources browser.

No, I mean the browser that's used for file and image TVs. I'm not claiming that it's any better, just mentioning the fact that the JS code is there to look at.

So, I've created OnDocFormRender plugin mentioned earlier by me and got success again. Now it works with images, files (located in assets/images and assets/files) and tinyMCE. Don't use it in production!
The second step is to add more MODx to integration - move KCFinder settings from config.php to manager, add check to prevent KCFinder running not in manager - it's very important because everyone can delete (or upload smiley )everything in assets/files or assets/images using direct link now.
            To install:
            1. Unpack kcfinder.zip to assets/components/
            2. Replace tiny.js in assets/components/tinymce with one attached in zip. It's a hack, but I didn't understand the loading of tinyMCE.
            3. Create plugin using kcfinder.txt and bind it on OnDocFormRender event.
            4. Try to change settings in assets/components/kcfinder/config.php [ed. note: pathologic last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]

This may have been answered elsehwere, but I can't find anything on this forum with its sorely lacking search feature.

The Resource Browser is badly in need of updating, and my clients are asking when it will be improved. I have no idea what to tell them. At the very least, we need a list view in addition to thumbnails...
Where is the full post? I got an email of it (and a link https://forums.modx.com/thread/81498/when-will-the-resource-browser-be-updated?page=5#dis-post-453009) but it's not here. What happend?

It's a bug. My last post was replaced with the first post in the thread somehow.
