This may have been answered elsehwere, but I can't find anything on this forum with its sorely lacking search feature.
The Resource Browser is badly in need of updating, and my clients are asking when it will be improved. I have no idea what to tell them. At the very least, we need a list view in addition to thumbnails. Ideally, there would be more image management features as well (ability to create resized versions of images, dragging and dropping images to move them into or between folders, ability to easily link an inserted image to a popup full-size version, etc.). I remember reading somewhere in the forum in an old post that creating a more full-featured Resource Browser was planned, but I don't see any mention of it on the MODX timeline. Is this actually on the timeline? Are any improvements currently being worked on?

I know it's been mentioned and I agree it could do with a bunch of TLC, but I don't have a definite timeline for you.
The team is quite small so limited in what we can do; luckily the product is open source and if anyone wants to step up and own reworking the resource browser, I'm sure everyone would be very thankful.
I wish I were more skilled, and/or had more time to develop the skills to work on this. Or, alternatively, knew how to replace the Resource Browser altogether with a different one that I like (PlugoBrowser for tinyMCE); I'm sure that wouldn't be terribly difficult if I knew exactly how to hook in at the right place. Anyway, I do hope this is taken on by someone at some point.

I love elFinder, but getting elFinder properly connected to MODx, and especially considering Media Sources, is currently beyond my abilities.

The resource browser is literally the one thing our clients need support with. The UI is pretty confusing and really the only part of modx you can't customise.
I can't tell you have many times I have had phonecalls along the lines "it has being saying waiting... for 10 minutes, should I leave it a bit longer? "

Dragging and dropping images or other files isn't anything at all like dragging and dropping resources or elements. The latter two only need to update the database to change their parent or category. To move files requires file system functions. And those can be different depending on the server platform.
