      I personally would be very happy, if the Gallery Media Manager would become the standard Media Manager. Crop, rotate, resize – just great for users that don't have photoshop and want to upload an image that is to large (size and data) to be used unmodified.

      And there needs to be MUCH more space for the filename. At the moment you are so lost when you try to have "speaking" names because those tent to get a little longer and the elipsis bites you in the rear. But I think that Mark Hamstra is just working on this right now, right, Mark? Anything official?

      And maybe a list-view? Little preview, long name, size, date, just like we know it from our different desktop systems. Sortable columns.

      And maybe a function that remembers the last directory you where when you are setting a new image/file TV. Clicking through a larger tree is so dull. If there isn't a path in the the TV you are editing, just memember where you whe the last time. Would save so much time! [ed. note: mindeffects last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]

        I've attached screenshots to show result. The main features are:
        multiple files upload;
        upload files using HTML5 drag and drop;
        download multiple files or a folder as single ZIP file;
        select multiple files with the Ctrl/Command key;
        clipboard for copying, moving and downloading multiple files;
        option to select and return several files;
        resize uploaded images. Configurable maximum image resolution;
        configurable thumbnail resolution;
        transliteration for files and folders names.
        And it remembers last opened folder!

        My integration is dirty because of my poor programming skills, there's no support for media sources, but now content manager has less pain with attaching images for goods.

          OK, kcFinder does not look pretty, but functionality allways comes first: Form follows function.

            I don't think that my solution should be adapted - kcfinder is written in jQuery, not ExtJs. We need true revolutionary file manager.
            BTW, http://extplorer.sourceforge.net/ may be a good alternative.

              +1 to everything smiley

              @pathologic: do you think that jquery and extjs could have some conflicts or are you thinking about a best optimization?

                I would not mind seeing less extJS in the Manager. The backend could be much clearer, faster and more customizable with just HTML/CSS/(jQUERY). Just look at the extJS grids and how cumbersome editing a field is. Why not simple "input" html-tags? Same is true for dropdown-list: There is a perfect tag for such a thing, called "select". If MODX really wants to become more popular, it has to become easier for developers (not only the hardcore-type) and just more straigt forward for users. Agencies and clients must fall in love with the simplicity of daily things. A better Media Manager is vital here. But also many other things, like organizing the TV order.
                Since the Manager is nothing more than "just another website" it could be replaced by something different. Best example is Mark's HandyMan. In MODX 3.0 the Manager, as we know it, will be gone. But what will happen in the meantime?

                  I don't think that there are any great difficulties to use jQuery along with ExtJs, but it's better to follow Revo standards, IMHO. Revo is really powerful for developers, but it needs a bit more comfort for content managers as well, and file manager is not the only problem smiley [ed. note: pathologic last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]

                    pathologic - looks great! much simpler for clients.

                    The same approach needs to be taken with the file browser as with the rest of the backend - i.e complete flexibility. Tie it in with form customisation so I can remove features that will just confuse my clients.

                    Really all I need right now is to change that silly waiting... text!! [ed. note: g5604 last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]

                      I love elFinder, but getting elFinder properly connected to MODx, and especially considering Media Sources, is currently beyond my abilities.

                      wow +1 for this. wish i could make this modx-ready, but i'm not that good i'm afraid.
