    MIke,
What version of php/mysql/apache is it running? Random problems make not a lot of sense.

    PHP Version 4.4.1
    MySQL Version 4.1.21
    Apache/1.3.34 (Unix)

I should point out that I have at least 5 other MODx instances on the same dedicated box, same database, same environment...Only thing different are the MODx versions, and obviously content. However, I don’t experience the logout issues.

Also, I didn’t experience issues with this particular instance prior to upgrading to RCx sad

The environment has not been altered either... hmmm...

The one thing that stands out as possibly being related is the fact that the site is being accessed solely via IP (http://12.345.678.9/furl-alias.html) ...The apache server name/alias directive will not be permanently defined until the domain name is pointed to server.

    I can’t say with certainty that it is a 096 RCx-specific issue:

    1. I am the only person experiencing the issue, to my knowledge
    2. I am using same RCx (alternate server, URL by domain name) and not experiencing the issue
    3. It could be based on local MODx setup: For example, I am using the SEO Strict URLs plugin, and possibly it (or other plugin, etc) could be interfering.

...it is hard because I never had the issues, installed RC1+ and started noticing the issues. So I know where I want to point my finger, I just can’t justify it wink

@pixelchutes: can you confirm or deny that the only time you experience the periodic logout meets one of the following conditions?

      [*] when editing a document
      [*] when using docmanager
[*] when editing a document with a date TV widget
      [*] when editing a user
      [*] when editing a webuser

      We’ll start there...

I notice primarily when editing a document, likely since that is where most of my time has been allotted.

However, I have noticed this other places before, such as:

[*] When trying to expand the document tree (ajax)
        [*] When trying to open/save a chunk/plugin/snippet
[*] When browsing to any alternate section in the /manager
[*] When updating documents via QuickEdit

It seems to be something having to do with SESSION and it getting dropped. Logout occurs as a result, regardless of my actions...

Hmmmm... I’m researching the random use of PHP_SELF throughout the app to build URLs, which, if you are accessing by IP and that IP is not configured in the virtual host so that it is reported in PHP_SELF (SERVER_NAME directive I believe), could be the source of your problem. It is used everywhere the calendar javascript is presented for date editing, and a few other places. However, that wouldn’t necessarily explain QuickEdit behaving that way.

Hmm... it’s worth a shot. I’ll reconfigure anything needed to cause this issue to go away.

I guess the logouts, although annoying, won’t be as troublesome until I point the domain to the IP. ( Dev -> Prod )

I will be interested to see if the IP-theory holds water...

Update: I am still having issues with my manager logging me out. It’s to a point where I can replicate very quickly.

My newest chunk exists here: /manager/index.php?id=27&a=22

In fact, I can log in, browse to /manager/index.php?id=27&a=22 and show just the Edit Document frame. Then, if I press refresh, I get logged out and have to repeat. The annoying part is that I cannot even edit the chunk via the GUI, or logging in as normal.
