Count on some feedback from me later this evening. I have a few 096 RC1 upgrades that I’ll be playing around with...(and possibly some 0.9.5.1) Thanks for all the hard work you guys!

I upgraded from 0.9.6-RC1 and saw the following problem.

I access the manager at something like http://foo.domain.com/~andy/devsite/manager, however after logging in it redirects to http://foo.domain.com/manager, which doesn’t exist. I can get to the manager by manually fixing the URL, however I get the same problem on logout as well. sad

My site is located at something like: http://foo.domain.com/~andy/devsite.

site_url = "http://foo.domain.com" => CSS isn’t found when using this for the base tag

base_url = "/" => CSS is found when using this for the base tag but all links are broken. Instead of going to http://foo.domain.com/~andy/devsite/index.php, they go to http://foo.domain.com/index.php, which doesn’t exist.

This all worked just fine with 0.9.6-RC1, so I don’t think my server is misconfigured.

I thought I read in the NetSol-issue thread that Apache 2.2 no longer allows the following in .htaccess files:

          Off/On
          php_flag register_globals Off|On

          and now requires boolean/integers
          php_flag register_globals 0|1

...Can anyone confirm? Is this backwards compatible w/ older versions of PHP/Apache? (Pretty sure it is) If so, we should consider updating the "ht.access" example file that makes 0.9.6 Stable.

Also, I just upgraded from a previously labeled 0.9.6 RC2 (trunk) version ... rev 2466 I think... and so far everything works great. It was actually quite seamless! I almost forgot to logout of my manager session, but the new reminder was VERY helpful. Nicely done.

However, I should note that when I saw the logout reminder, I entered /manager to logout and NOTHING was styled, frames were oddly out of place (doc tree on right), etc...I saw the unstyled, blue logout link and clicked it...which then resulted in
          fread/fclose
errors, etc. I disregarded it, tried logging into /manager again, but with no luck. I assumed logout had done its job so I resumed the install/upgrade process without any issues...The logout incident I experienced might scare a few people in the same situation lipsrsealed

Not a big issue, but is anyone else seeing a lime green line at the top of the Edit Document page (right above Document setting section)? (Using MODxLight theme)

          UPDATE:
I just went into Resources > Plugins and Disabled QuickEdit plugin.
The resulting page following the update wasn’t the Resources, rather it loaded my website into the frame... Also, the plugin was NOT disabled

          Needed the friendly /manager/.htaccess: wink
          SecFilterEngine Off
          RewriteEngine Off

TinyMCE Links aren’t rendering properly for me:

          <a href="http://127.0.0.1/%5B%7E42%7E%5D" mce_href="http://127.0.0.1/page_name_here.html">click here for details</a>.

...Apparently [~12345~] isn’t being converted to URL because of the way TinyMCE converted the [ and ]. Also, not sure why mce_href="" and mce_src="" attributes are making it through in my markup sad

the ’missing chunk tab’ issue I reported for RC1 disappeared in RC2.

Now I’m getting a ’Flash plugin deprecated and should not be used togheter with the media plugin’ dialog/warning whenever I load tinyMCE (editing documents).

This happens both with Firefox on Macs and with Explorer 7 on Windows 2000.

Has anyone had any problems with Captcha?  I went to Tools -> Configuration -> User -> "Use CAPTCHA codes" and I turned that on, but the CAPTCHA codes weren’t displaying in when I went to www.mysite.blah/manager  I tried several different browsers, and different OS’s.  I tried looking in the documentation part of this site, but there was no information on the subject.  The wiki didn’t have any info on it as well just a link to what CAPTCHA code is/does.
I did manage to find these two threads.

              http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,3243.0.html

              http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,3861.0.html

The first one helped me turn off CAPTCHA so I could login, but I would still like to implement it.  I have found little to troubleshoot this problem.  I checked my phpinfo file in the configuration tab, and I have GD support with jpeg enabled, and I also have TrueType fonts enabled.  If anyone has any ideas, I am all ears.

              cheers
              -capin

Well I seemed to finally solve this problem. I found this link:

              http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/checking-for-gd-support-on-your-server/

which allows you to test GD support on your server. I ended up finding out that I needed to have FreeType compiled into php.

                Hello everyone,

I’ve been playing around with a site that features both english and simplified chinese, on both my dev site and my clean 0.9.6RC install when i input any chinese characters into a modx field, (longtitle, content and title i have tried) ’?? ??’ is what is entered into the field.

When i enter the same characters straight into the db through MySQL Query Browser the characters go in without any problems. This points to modx as being whats going slightly odd.

Going back to a site of mine that runs 0.9.5 i tried entering the same characters into the same fields and they went in without any problems at all, figuring its something to do with the new database config fields in the installer for 0.9.6 (charset and collation) which left as the default (utf8 and utf_general_ci).

What i found really interesting was that if i took a 0.9.6RC2 site, deleted all the tables in the DB, and ran the 0.9.5 installer (leaving me with 0.9.6 manager and assets and 0.9.5 installed DB) the chinese characters inputted just fine, i figure there will be some temporary solution featuring me choosing which tables i blend together from 0.9.5 and 0.9.6 in order to allow chinese chars to be inserted into the DB through modX, however if this is a 0.9.6 problem then im sure it would be a good thing to fix properly.

I have yet to try updating a site from 0.9.5 -> 0.9.6 to see if this affects an upgraded site, but it certainly affects any new 0.9.6 site that i create.

Any ideas on whether this is a strange modx problem or a strange Seraji problem?

and before i forget, heres some debugging info (might help you work out if it is just my problem)
                MySql 5.0.27
                PHP Version 5.1.6
                Fedora 5 Core

Ta very much for an info on whats happening.

I had some similar issues at first with a latin1 encoded website (french), since I had improperly let the installer go through the standard upgrade which set the DB connection charset to utf-8 by default. If your DB connection charset is not utf-8, then you should use the advanced upgrade which allow you to choose the proper charset.

You have to understand that from 0.9.6 and on, MODx specifies a new variable in the config.inc.php file ($database_connection_charset) which is defined by the new installer either during install or during upgrade. Be careful to set the right database connection charset, or else you’ll suffer bothering issues tongue

Regarding the problem with eForm 1.4.4 packaged in 096 RC2:

                    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,14019.msg91953.html#msg91953

Any word on if the updated eForm package will make it into the next RC?
