Both Evolution and Revolution have a sample site that you can download and install.

PLEASE, PLEASE specify the version of MODX you are using . . . PLEASE!
MODX info for everyone:

Not sure that would affect you using MODX, but if my host said they didn't support MODX I'd RUN!

Also using TVs makes that resource easily editable by an end user since they can use the WYSIWYG interface to edit them when set to Rich Text. They don't have to know HTML and you can further simplify things for them by breaking down headings and content/description areas etc. You can eliminate using the "content" section all together in Form Customization and just put in TVs for a client who wants to have editable control over all aspects of their site. Makes it less likely they'll be pulling their hair out or screw things up trying to add CSS or interfacing the HTML part of the WYSIWYG. Doing things all under just the "Content" section can be a nightmare and you can pre-format all the parts for them.
I built a site recently with 22 TVs on a single page so the client could do just that, and they loved it.

I'm a newbie so please be gentle!
I'm looking at using MODX for a new website but my current hosting providers have advised that their server settings do not have the gdlib and imagemagick extensions installed.
I would presume from the MODX server requirements that this mean it won't work unless I switch hosting company.....something I don't really want to do.
Any ideas on the implications of running without these 2 extensions?
Thanks
MODx itself will run just fine, but the Resource Browser (for inserting images in the TinyMCE rich text editor and for image-type TVs) won't be able to have its thumbnails of images and folders. I'm not sure the Resource Browser will work at all without that, to be honest.
