    How to add MODX?
I want to add modx automatically, all the component can be added

By adding MODx do you mean you want to install MODx? Create a mysql database (set collations to utf-8), then add a user with all privileges. Upload the MODx files to your domain folder, then navigate to your url and you should get the installation screen. Follow it step by step. If you’re installing Revolution, you’ll need to navigate to yourdomainname.com/setup.

    Hope this helps

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but is versioning included.

I mean if you change something in a text does it automatically keep a copy of the original text so you can role back if necessary.

Not without some add-ons. Revo will have this as part of the core in a future release.

Hi all, I’m a total novice so apologies in advance if this question is obvious... Also, my site is in French so apologies if the translations of the terminology is a bit off.

I want to change the keywords for my web pages. I go to Resources, then "Manager Meta tags and Keywords". I then enter the keywords I want or create Meta tags.

My question: what is the difference between entering keywords or creating e "keyword" Meta tag? The same question also for "description" and "descrption Meta tag"? Do I really need to create the Meta tags?

          Thanks all.

Actually, those features are gone in MODx Revolution and most people use Template Variables to do meta tags and keywords. You don’t need to create them. People do it in the hope that it will help them get higher rankings on search engines like Google. Personally, I don’t think it makes much difference.

Thanks BobRay. I think I’ve got a handle on how TVs work now.

Just another question: in the template that I looked at there was this:

                <meta name="description" content="[*introtext*]" />

Does this mean that the "description" META tag is generated from the page content (is that what *introtext* means)?

If I want the "descrption" META tag to be generated from the "description" data field in the page in question or do I need to create a "description" TV ?

                Thanks all,

[*introtext*] is the summery field in the document
you could also use [*description*] for that witch is the description field of the document

As a Newbie I am very interested in knowing
How do I pick the order in DropMenu? Currently it seems to be ordered by the document number. Any suggestions of where I should look would be very much appreciated!

                    Regards,
                    Dave

DropMenu is very old and has been deprecated for years. Use Wayfinder instead; it by default uses the menuindex value to order the items.
