L.O.V.E is just a four letter word
Does with integration work in 096 + smf 1.1.2?
thanks for answer
Hi!
Did anyone migrate his/her site with a forum to another server? Because I did, but the migration of the forum was not successful: when logging in it does not redirect to the modx login page, although I have set it in the module connector. On the "source" site it was working properly, so it is quite a riddle, why not on the new server. Any idea?
I installed this module together with SMF 1.1.3 and MODx 0.9.6 - latest stable versions on Apache, with PHP5 + mySQL 5.
I successfully managed to sync MODx and SMF users. So far so good.
However... something really strange is going on:
afaik, there is no minimum string length for a MODx password, correct? SMF however has one: it has to be at least 8 characters or you can’t register at all.
If I login with a user-account where the p/w is < 8 chars, I can login, but I can’t browse the forum. All the topics just disappear.
If I login with a user-account that I previously opened up in SMF (before installing this module), with >= 8 p/w chars, everything is fine and dandy.
This is really bugging me. If this was a completely new website I’m setting up, I wouldn’t care too much. But I have to import almost 9000 user-accounts from an old forum-system.
Most of these passwords are <8 characters!
Does anyone know a solution/hack/voodoo method to solve this?
The other thing I was worrying about: The method to store a password into the database differs. MODx just uses md5(str), while SMF uses some salt string + sha1(), stored in 2 separate DB-tables. I visited the SMF forums, but I didn’t find a full explanation on how to emulate this (for the conversion of all the 9k old users). Apparently, SMF completely changed the p/w storage method a few versions back, which of course doesn’t make it easier for me...
Hey...
are groups also synchronized? If I put someone into the group "students" in SMF, if that someone also in MODx’s group "Student"? Or do I have to do it manually?

Unfortunately, groups are not synchronized

Here’s an interesting little problem which maybe the coding team can help with
When installing the MODx-SMF bridge it insert the following hook calls into SMF:
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_pre_include','/path/to/smf.integrate.inc.php');
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_pre_load','cms_smf_start');
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_exit','cms_smf_end');
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_validate_login','cms_smf_validateLogin');
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_register','cms_smf_registerUser');
REPLACE INTO smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES('integrate_verify_user','cms_smf_verifyUser');
Now the bizarre thing is... [tt]cms_smf_validateLogin[/tt] and [tt]cms_smf_registerUser[/tt] don’t exist in the code! I’ve grepped all the sources and these functions are not present.
So... is something missing from the source or do these lines of SQL need editing?
