Experiencing the same problem with cookie expiration as hotdiggity.
I’m using MODx 0.9.6.1p2 and the WebLogin 1.1 snippet to let users signup to my site and the forum. I’m also using the SMF connector module (latest version).
I defined a web user group in MODx and a member group in SMF with the same name. In the connector module, I defined the name of this group to be default for new users.
Now, when I signup, the webuser is created in the right web group in MODx. The user is also created in SMF, but not in any member group.
Does anyone know how I can achieve that the user is put in the right group in SMF as well?
As a workaround, in the table smf_webforum_membergroups, I’ve changed the default value of the field ID_GROUP to the id of the group I want new users to signup to. This works, but there should be another, and better, way to achieve this...
Hello,
I am having some serious problems with this mod
My modx version is 0.9.6.1
My Smf version is 1.1.5
Everything seemed to install correctly
I synced the members even though i was the only one listed
Then i went to try and test it with a test user account
I received the welcome letter for the test account in my email fine
So i went back to log in and make sure everything was fine..
Problem 1. The forum no longer allows a person to log out correctly.
Although they can log out of modx.. they can not log out of the forum
I had to delete my admin cookie just to get out of that so that i could attempt to log in with the Test user account.
Then I logged into my test account, all went well, until i went to the forum
It appeared i was logged in under that account, until i went to the profile page
Which leads me to...
Problem 2. The modx registration, did not register the account to the forum, only to modx
It instead registered a blank account in the forum.
So i attempted to add in the details.
The forum rejected the password created in the modx registration.
And because all of the forms are passed back to modx, i can not apply for a "forgotten password"
So i again deleted my smf cookie so i could log back into the admin panel, because of the inability to truly logout
Then i synced the two again, thinking that might help...
And... Problem 3.
It did add the test account, but it added another blank account to the smf and two blank accounts to modx
So, until this can be sorted out, i have had to disable membership for now
Is there anyway at all to fix this?
If not, is there anyway that i can cleanly remove this from my modx
so i can have proper control of each account system again???
Thanks for any help in advance

For one thing, passwords are a problem between MODx and SMF because MODx uses a plain MD5 hash, while SMF uses a salted hash. So you can’t use a MODx password hash for SMF, because SMF will compare with a salted hash of the password.
Ok, well crud.. Any clue how to remove this cleanly then?
If it is not going to work as it said it would in the write up
I seriously want to remove it without messing anything up
From my limited experience the key to getting it working predictably is to have MODx control the users.
The login/logout & registration on the forum redirects to MODx, then MODx syncs the users across to the forum.
I’ve set it up three times that way and haven’t had any major issues, I also add a link back to the main site into the forum menu.
@ccheney
Did you install and log into the Forum before installing the bridge?
Have you tried creating the table?
Here are a couple of screen shots of the table.
Chris,
I think you’re okay to login before adding the connector.
I’m not sure what’s going on with your error.
I think I had it once when I moved from one server to another, in the end I did a fresh SMF install.
