      Hello,

My SMF Bridge is acting strange, when i tried it for the first time it worked good, it synced the new admin account from SMF to Modx. But when i add users to Modx to sync to SMF the page turns white after clicking the link and nothing is synced to SMF. What is happing? Where can i look?

I’ve got a fresh install of Modx and SMF.

      ModX version: 0.9.6
      SMF version: 1.1.3
      Bridge: 1.0

      Thank in advance,

      Ruben

        The weirdest problem:
I’ve installed MODx and SMF in two places, my local MacBook and on a Linus server. In both installations I also use the SMF Bridge.

I can log in to the forum via MODx, and everything works just as it should. But I can’t log out. Unless I use Internet Explorer.

Getting frustrated and slightly desperate here folks...

I am also experiencing this extremely frustrating event.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to rectify this problem?

        Thanks
        Sheri

If you have the bridge installed, and you add a web user in modx it should turn up in SMF automatically, you don’t need to sync them. However I assume you did click the sync button, and in that case you should have gotten a neat report about (un)succesfully synced accounts, and not a blank screen.

Just to be sure, did the admin-account in modx not already exist when you synced it the first time, so perhaps it was not a succesfull sync after all?

no it wasn’t, i used different names for the modx and smf admins, and the smf admin account is now an modx web user. it worked once... also when i add a user in modx it doesn’t show op in smf. and sync gives me only a white page.

              hi,
i have a SMF (1.1.3) with about 400 post and now want to integrate the user management into my Modx installation.
I managed to install the SMF Bridge, but everytime i try to sync the users i get the this error:

              « MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
« Execution of a query to the database failed - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ’-ba.smf_settings (variable, value) VALUES(’integrate_pre_include’,’/is/htdocs/wp1’ at line 1 »
              SQL: REPLACE INTO dbxxx-ba.smf_settings (variable,value) VALUES(’integrate_pre_include’,’/is/htdocs/xxx_PZT0GFMMQL/www/assets/modules/smforum/smf.integrate.inc.php’);

Modx and SMF are both in the same database and i have no clue what this error means also i wasn’t able to follow the complete discussion in this thread. Is this plugin outdated or whats going on?
Im planing some other projects and i really like the idea of having ONE single user management for these projects. Is there any chance for me to get this working?

              Thanks for any help

P.S. does it matter when my Manager-Admin (not Web User) and SMF Admin have the same names?

And now its even getting worse. I tried to register a WebUser (via WebLoginPE) and got this error:

                « MODx Parse Error »
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
« Execution of a query to the database failed - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ’-ba.smf_members WHERE BINARY memberName = ’Xxx’’ at line 1 »
SQL: SELECT memberName FROM dbxxx-ba.smf_members WHERE BINARY memberName = ’Xxx’
                [Copy SQL to ClipBoard]

The registration process worked before without any problems (and it looks like its still working despite the SMF part). Anybody has an idea where to look? Or is it senseless to keep on trying to get this working?

If i’m not mistaken - i’m not a mySQL expert - you cannot use a dash in the database name. You could try renaming it and adjust your config files accordingly.

I got the bridge working fine, I only had to hack the code so that full names get synch’d if you add or change a user in Modx. Normally, you’d only get the login name as the full name in SMF. Minor problem I guess.

Another thing, I had problems using the same username for both the SMF and the MODX database, when I used different users it worked fine. I don’t know if that’s going to work if you use a single DB.

                  Any SQL experts in here?

hmm, when the dash really isn’t allowed im in trouble because its a preset from my webhoster. I can only change the last two characters.
I’m just wondering why everything else in this database is working without any problems? I mean my modx and SMF installation are in this database and they never complained.
But im afraid you are right, it sounds logical to me and explains the error message :’(

another thing you could try is to backquote the database name in your settings, like `dbxxx-blabla`, or hack the code in the right place to include those.
