    mythus, what functions do you need to have integrated with SMF from MODx? If you’re not doing custom coding of web applications, it’s likely a simply authentication check using SMF’s ssi.php stuff would suffice. That’s in fact what we do on the MODx site itself for user comments in the blog section.

    Jot can use the authentication of ssi.php?

      Hi Ryan,

      Any chance of an idiot’s guide to doing this?

      Thabks.

        You calling me an idiot!?! tongue

        Here’s how you can check the logged in status and return the username and avatar:

        include_once("forums/SSI.php");

        $loggedin = false;
        if ($context['user']['is_logged']) {
        $loggedin = true;
        $name = $context['user']['name'];
        $avatar = $context['user']['avatar']['image'];
        }else {echo "bad bad bad";}
        print_r($context);
        return $name.$avatar;

        I believe the SSI.php file needed a minor modification in order to work, but I’ll let the folks that actually know what it took comment on that.

          I was trying to use the SMF ssi snippet and got this error:

          PHP error debug
            Error: ini_set() [function.ini-set]: A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time.
            Error type/ Nr.: 	Warning - 2
            File: 	/vservers/whatever/htdocs/forum/Sources/Load.php
            Line: 	1905
            Line 1905 source: 	@ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', false);

          MODx 0.9.6
          SMF 1.1.3
          PHP 5.1x
          Apache
          MODX/SMF Bridge installed and working w/o problems
          SMF ssi v. 1 (latest avbl.)

          snippet call = [!SMFssi? &ssi=ssi_topTopics!]

          If I try the standalone test page forum/ssi_examples.php, everything works nice.

          Anyone knows a bugfix?

            You’ll have to comment out that line. It assumes it’s being used where no other session management is going on.

              Hi everybody,

              I’ve been strugling for 2 days to get this SMF Connector installed.

              I have:
              - A fresh install of ModX 0.9.6.
              - A fresh install of SMF 1.1.3.
              - SMF Connector 1.0

              I can Run the Module no problem.
              But when I click on Administration Center, I get:

              Fatal error: Call to undefined function: smf_loginbyid() in /home/myusername/public_html/assets/modules/smforum/smf.admin.class.inc.php on line 36

              Does anybody know how to get that fixed?
              Thanks

                I’m having the same problem as Frank, and getting the same error. Also, it won’t let me log in to my forum. When I click on "login" in the forum, I got to the web login page I’ve set up, type in the log in details, and it returns to the same page. If I then return to the forum, it still says I’m logged out.

                I don’t know if these two problems are related, but it’s driving me bonkers. Has anyone had a similar problem and managed to fix it?

                Any help warmly welcomed! smiley

                  Jason: When I comment that line, the smfssi works, but then the actual forum itself doesn’t work anymore. I just get a blank screen, nothing, nada on domain.com/forum/ (where it used to work previously).

                    Hi there,

                    I’ve got a question about the SMFssi snippet. The bridge isn’t installed because I dont’ want to use weblogin, websignup & all this snippets. The forum will be the main part of my site.
                    I succeeded in putting the login form on the index of the site but I want to modify the style.
                    Do I need to change the file "SSI.php" ? I can’t use a chunk because ssi_login is only a parameter, not a snippet.

                    My english expression may be a bit weird, sorry for that, I’m french.
                    And I’m a newb, so I’m just discovering Modx.

                      As far as I know you have to change the layout in SSI.php
