Thanks - Is this solution (and indeed foxycat) secure though? Dont they both require the passing of the purchase information via a url string to the third party from the actual eShop? Cant this be hacked?

Yes, it can be hacked. The same is true about html paypal ’Buy Now’ buttons. However, people tend not to give themselves a discount when handing over their credit card information! Usually when there is a potential for changing the prices, it is recommended to check the orders before shipping--which is only practical with lower volume e-commerce sites.

I should point out this is my first ecommerce project, so I’m no expert.

Both will capture the order - quantities, variants, prices, etc, and then all the sensitive information is processed on their own secure servers. If someone really wanted to to I’m sure they could adjust the price in the cart before it goes off for processing, but this would be apparent at the other end.

Great - thanks for the info guys. I am hoping the new solutions mentioned may well do all the cart functionality on eShop site, and then post to PayPal for transaction and thus remove the hacking issues. Will keep a close eye on developments here!

And have to say WOW! If MODx are to bring something out for an eShop plugin then this is surely one of the best to emulate, it really is the business - I have just installed WP, the eShop plugin and within 30mins have an eShop up and working with complete catalog management, payment and fulfillment control and bespoke styling....

I would so love this for MODx!!!!

Is anyone interested in chipping in and having WP ecommerce ported to MODx? The developer is open to customizations.
