Thanks to Kylejae for finding this *bug*

If you are using XAMPP in your local testing environment, It may not be compiled with the necessary binaries for extracting zip archives, which the MODx Resource Wizard is dependent on. As such, this module may not work on your local testing servers. Almost all hosting services capable of supporting a MODx installation will be complied correctly to support the MODx Resource Wizard.

is it possible to run the resource wizard (and skingraft) under xamp with files that have been extracted? The limitation to using zipped files seems overly constraining (to me).
    Thanks,
    joe

      No.

Using an archive is not a limitation. Nearly all of these templates, snippets, modules, etc... are comprised of multiple files and directory structures. The idea of the Resource wizard was to be a point and click, one step installation of resources. If you already have to unzip it because your server won’t work with zips, why not just upload the directory structure and copy the contents file to a new resource in the manager?
It may be possible to modify it to work with non-zipped files, but it is not going to be on my to do list. If you checked out the license on the resource wizard you can see it is GPL so I encourage you to modify it to work in your situation. perhaps we could get a collaborative effort going. grin

        Thanks Dr. Scotty,
I think I found my problem... It is not the windows version of php (which has come bundled with zlib since 4.3.0) it is more likely due to the mime type issues discussed at length in this thread coupled with the fact that MRW 1.8.5 is the version available under modx downloads rather than version 2 available in this thread. I’ll try out version 2 and see if my problems don’t go away.
        Thanks for the great work!
        joe

Update... I noticed that version 2.01 is not actually a complete package and requires a direct connection to your server. I would prefer to have all the source available for review prior to installation so instead I think I’ll try making the mime type mods by hand to 1.8.5 and see how it goes.

Any idea when 2.x might make it to the repository?
        Thanks again!

          yeah,
actually the latest version (2.1.0) fixes some major TV issues, AND offers a direct download of the files for those who don’t want to install directly from my personal file reserve.

I have been meaning to for a while, but I will make my best effort to get that file into the repository today. It is the documentation that I have been dreading!

            Thanks again Dr. Scotty!
Looking forward to having the stand-alone version available. This is the kind of thing I was concerned about regarding a script that runs on my server and downloads/installs files...

Here is a candidate for the next release. there is one more thing I want to add, but it is not essential to the resource wizard’s function.

If anyone has time to do a code audit on this installer script and/or the resource wizard module to check for security issues, that would be great.

i also get the This does not appear to be a valid MODx Resource Wizard package, message. Saw that "patch", but now how to apply it?

                thanks, Frank Los.

did you try that new version above your post?

I was going to give it a try but first, I took a quick look at the code from post above and decided against it. Please forgive me if I am incorrect as I am certainly not a PHP expert but it appears to me that the code in the latest snippet is still not complete and stand-alone. It appears that once installed it has access to your server database and, more importantly still requires access to Dr. Scotty’s personal server to download content. This is not a method of code acquisition / installation that I am comfortable with so I decided to wait and see what gets put into the repository.
It may be that the new code offers an option, upon execution from within MODx, to download the code to a local file prior to installation, but I personally would much prefer that there was no access to a personal server at all from within the snippet.

Again, please forgive me if I have interpreted the code incorrectly and please do not take my assessment as gospel. I would much appreciate a more complete and accurate explanation of the snippet functionality if someone more expert than me has taken the time to review the code.

mrw_2.1.0.zip gives me an empty zip file? Nothing to try.
