The webpage at http://modx.com/login/?discuss=1 has resulted in too many redirects.

(In Chrome. I get a similar error in FF. IE, being less cool, just goes into an infinite loop.)

@Cyclissimo Yes. The idea is to get a good road test. I’ve found a bug today that I need to report and we need to make sure the theming is sane for general use. We did a lot of customization and it really needs to have a generic theme to start with. It currently doesn’t have such a thing.

@freejung Thanks for that note. It isn’t with the forums but the redirects from login. That helps indeed.

@shamblett did you clear your cache? I know (from experience and reports) Chrome on any platform is notorious for caching issues. If that’s not it. We’ll need to know more about your network and perhaps its a dns issue. Are you on a proxy server?
Yes, cleared cache and all cookie/sessions, no not behind a proxy here. Networks fine, Chrome cycles between the URL above and modxcms.com(bottom left of the browser), until it gives up. Firefox does the same, i.e gives a redirect warning

Only thing I would like to see is what forum it’s been posted in when clicking "view unread posts", theres a lot of cats I dont read / want to read and not everyone give good topic titles

            modxcms.com? Or modx.com? It shouldn’t ever go to modxcms.com.

Also, what URL are you on? Does logging out of modx.com entirely, then relogging in work? Can you view the forums when logged out?

@cyclissimo don’t be embarrassed about your critique. It was fully intended to be ultra minimalist. Content first, less "forum bling". We accept it may not be everyone’s taste but don’t apologize ever for a valid opinion.

I actually really love minimalist design generally, but I have a few complaints :

              • the look overall feeling is that it is not enough spaced to clearly define in one glance the forum parts.
It’s not a forum but look here: http://themes.premiumpixels.com/?theme=classica
The elements and paragraph while not using any clear separator are easily definable.
              • While browsing the forum, i lost track of the categories.
              • The approach choosen use very light lines, and on my very old TN screen at work, they are invisible which make separations even less visible.
              • Categories should define a clear structure for brosing the forum, but "Subtopics" in bold tend to be more remarkable. And since there is a left padding, when there are many subforums, they attire the eye more than the main forum title.
              • The main forum title also needs more space. The description below feels restricted (end a little bit too big on the font-size maybe).

A comparison between the current forum and quick CSS fix with firebug might help explain it better.

It’s a bit late here to offer anything more constructive tonight, but I just want to say that I completely agree with the points Lossendae made in the previous post.

My first impression was that the ’topics’ page was cluttered and cramped, and I found it difficult to navigate the mix of headings, sub-headings and descriptive text. His suggestion is a tremendous improvement in terms of legibility/scannability - I really hope you’ll take his suggestions on board.

I do like the modx.com theme in general but a little more attention to detail here will ensure the new forums as enjoyable to use as the rest of the site smiley

BTW Firefox 6 came out this week. Not quite sure why you’re still on FX 3.6.x as it is super slow in comparison.

Because you can’t double click the top left hand corner to close Firefox - which pisses me off as it goes against UX of any other programme - and the stupid version release speed they seem to be pursuing means that just tons of plugins I use are not compatible. Google toolbar primarily, which I use a lot. Really not good for developers.

FYI to all. We’ve made a few style tweaks since the first post. Let us know what else you think could improve it.
