And if I understand your question correctly about stack vs. tree, I guess I’d vote for tree as that is more compact from a page "real estate" perspective.

My understanding about stacking result is:
dir1 | dir2 | dir3 | dir4 | file1 | file2 | file3
About tree is:
dir1 | dir4
dir2 | dir3 | file1 | file4 | file5
| file2 | file3
If extending the &gid, the &tags will respect the &gid structure.
eg:[!easy2? &gid=`2` &tags=`dog`!]
The result is all dirs/files under directory ID 2, which have ’dog’ tag.
On the other hand, if not extending the &gid, &tags will retrieve all result without calculating the &gid structure.
Right now, I decide to ignore the &gid parameter.

I haven’t used that kind of snippet, but I guess you can grab the tree code from the SVN, and play with it.
Please note on upgrade:
DO NOT overwrite the previous folder.
Change its name instead.
RC1 uses different folders structure, and some parameter’s name changes inside the classes.
Language string parameter also has been changed.
In the snippet part, I’ve also added a descendant restriction, means you’ll be forwarded to Unauthorized page if you change the &gid parameter in the browser’s address bar to elsewhere out of the parent structure, or Error page if it’s out of the database.
RUN THE INSTALLER, because you’ll need to upgrade your database.
If you’re not lazy 
, update your language file.
Trust me, making the translation has never been this easy!
