I didn’t find time yet to test beta4, but I did some change in the thumbnail creation in beta3 snippet which might be useful
It uses PhpThumb library for image manipulation.
There were actually 2 reasons to do this
1. To try with PhpThumb
2. To have adaptiveResize. It seems 2 of the 3 options you have try to behave as adaptiveResize, but I didn’t have big success with them.
What is actually adaptiveResize in PhpThumb
- crop the original from center to the proportions of the target
- resize the result to the size of the target
What I implemented is following:
// Crop from center
if ($resize_type == 'inner') {
$thumb->cropFromCenter($w, $h);
}
// Resize to fit in both directions
elseif ($resize_type == 'shrink') {
$thumb->resize($w, $h);
}
// Adaptive resize - Crop to proportions and resize to fit
else {
$thumb->adaptiveResize($w, $h);
}
The resizing algorithms probably don’t fit to the names in the combo, but I’m too lazy to change the names
I’m too lazy to implement one more resizing which would be $thumb->resizePercent(50); and which would fit better to the name ’shrink’, but I don’t like this kind of thumbnail where the picture doesn’t fill the thumbnail.
Anyway, it has good performance and I think it is useful, so find it attached.
