    Wow. That’s impressive.

One question so far. Can a podcast have more than one category/sub ? I’ve always assumed that you could only attach a singe category to the podcast. If not how do we separate them ( comma, semicolon)? The reason I ask is that if you can’t chain categories together, then it would be nice to just put those options in a drop down list.

I’m still exploring, but this is a very cool snippet so far.

The Catagory and SubCategory are iTunes inventions or additions to the podcast. There is a limited choice of categories (you can not make one up, you must select one from the iTunes list), but I have attached the list to the configuration form for MODcastAdmin. And no, the podcast protocol does not allow for more than one category per podcast. If you look at the iTMS, you can see how categories & subcategories are used for organization, and why having more than one could cause confusion. I guess I could add the ability to add more than one category, but it would break your podcast.

I didn’t think it was allowed. I was just making sure.

So given that. A drop down menu list would be an ideal way of choosing categories rather than typing in from a list. Don’t you think? I imagine the sub categories would be the challenge to implement. But I’ve seen this sort of thing before on some address forms that require a County to be selected.

Second, this may be in the back of your mind to implement, but at the initial admin screen, a list of podcasts already set would be nice for reference and for editing.

I second the Notion! wink Consider it added to the todo list for 0.3

jbjones, I totally agree with you. I was going over that in my mind like 1000 times, but I don’t know how to do that. give me some time on that one. I will tag it to the feature requests.

Is this the same guy who just started learning php a couple of months ago wink

This snippet looks great! Now If I could only think of some clever way to use it on my site.

            Nice job, and nice music.

Yeah Kyle! one in the same. I bought my first book on PHP in March. laugh

I updated the hell out of this snippet again, so everyone take a look at the first post for all the juicy details!

                Might have a slight bug.

The configuration editor doesn’t pull up the sub categories properly when re-editing. It seems to reset to the top sub-category in the list. Every time.

Yeah... this is one of two known bugs.
#1) the subcategory gets reset everytime,
#2) the subcategory doesn’t work at all in KHTML/WebKit based browsers (safari, shiira, konqueror...)

Please, take a look into the source code, and the category.js file in the /js folder. Please see if you can help find the solution.

I am looking into it, but there does not appear to be any easy solution.

                      Yo MODcasters,
I updated this snippet again, fixing a few bugs. the new version is 0.2.6, and you can download it from the first post.

The subcategory is now "remembered" when you reload the snippet. This was a frickin’ tough fix! I had to load the .js file as a.php file so I could pass the stored variables to the javascript.

                      The check boxes work now!
