...I’ll be interested to see how many hits the Word search-and-replace gives me on MODx->MODX.

I used Doc Finder Module for search and replace on my site. Made sure to only choose Documents and check "Case sensitive". Sweet thing! But I don’t remember the number of hits now. I’m guessing many hundreds! smiley

//Oh no... I broke pictures and SyntaxHighlighter code $modx became $MODX! So not recommended! tongue

I started thinking about a snippet for this. It should be pretty easy in Revo, but Bob’s Guides is still running on Evo and it has a zillion references to MODx. On any platform, it’s not trivial because in addition to resource content fields there may be MODxs in code, code comments, chunks, TVs, readme files, build files for add-on components, and in the case of my site, in many resource titles. I don’t envy the many people who may have MODx in screen shots.

      Then there’s this:

Case-sensitive matches for MODx in the 2.0.7 files:

Core: 1401 (some of these are in add-on components)
      Connectors: 5
      Manager: 167
      Setup: 745

The bad news is that some of them are in variable and function names.

Are we sure it’s worth making this change?

Yeah I personally prefer MODx too - only because it separates the "x" from the "mod" and I can tell my clients that MODx means "MODification eXtreme" and that web developers are required to cross their arms in an X shape when speaking about the CMS.

Please, please keep the spelling MODx !

Bad enough the logo has to be changed.
(BTW, I don’t understand why so late; the hint to the similarity with a logo used by Clearleft came rather soon. It’s a pity: Obviously they don’t use it any more.)

It is important, and time has come, that MODx’s gains a certain corporate identity. Every unnecessary change is disturbing this process.

... the new logo gets a little lost in my opinion.
That’s good! The logo should fall into the background and let the content be the most important thing.
No, I think that’s not good. As part of the corporate identity the logo should not fall into the background.

(This is not a rant. MODx is great.)

I thought it was MODular eXtensible?

It is interesting why MODx is making the effort to completely rebrand itself after years of building a recognizable identity.

The only thing that I feel I will resist is the brandname change to all uppercase. That, to me is a huge deal. There already is enough confusion as to the pronunciation of the brandname, so now we’ve just added another one - ’modsk’. With all uppers, the X is no longer a distinctive character.

                    Plus, MODx just looks cooler.

Consider also that *many* existing web resources referring to MODx and the existing books on it will not change. I’m afraid no one will know for sure how to spell it.
