I like the new site, but there is a lot going on with the page and the new logo gets a little lost in my opinion.
That’s good! The logo should fall into the background and let the content be the most important thing.

There has always been a little confusion with the name. Is it modx, MODx or MODX? It keeps changing.
All caps, exactly like the logo. And still no one will ever get it right. tongue

Now it seems there is a new logo again?
    Yes. See the post above.

Consistent branding is an issue with different viewpoints out there. But there are a ton of sites and archived search results that show the familiar box logo. I have seen this logo on a bunch of sites and always know they were made with MODx, or is it MODX now?
MODX. A new logo won’t change the fact they’re still made in MODX. Hopefully the "MODX" part of the logo will give it away that it’s a MODX site in the future.

Maybe I am sensitive here. The last daily newspaper I worked at changed its name not once but twice while I worked there. In the end it was always confusing for the staff and the readers...
We’re not changing the name, just its capitalization to be consistent with the logo, hopefully leading to less confusion. There’s far more people that have never heard of MODX or that have no preconceived expectations of the logo than the ones that do. Hopefully our goodwill with existing users won’t be shot over a necessary branding tweak. There was real—albeit remote since Andy Budd and the guys at Clearleft are very cool—risk of confusion and legal disagreement that would be too distracting to even think about justifying by continuing to use the old logo. It sucks because I love it, but it was a necessary step, and thankfully I’ve got a few T-shirts with it on it too. wink

I really liked the lower case "x". I thought of it like it was exponential, as in the number of possibilities. If anything it should be a superscript. MODx
I don’t use the logo on documents, but I sure do use the name. On websites, résumés, contracts, etc...

        Good points.

I remember there was a whole discussion on how to pronounce MODx: "mod-x" or "mode-x". Safe to say almost everyone uses the "mod-x" pronunciation.

The spelling, or rather the mix of lower and upper case letters, does seem to keep changing though. All the text on the current modxcms.com site refer to it as MODx, but the current logo uses all lowercase, modx. You might find a lot of people will keep typing MODx and not MODX even though the new convention is all uppercase.

But this is all minutia though. Glad to see a refreshed site with reorganization is on the way!

Hi all, very impressivee design overall. homepage looked like CSS not riight on iPhone tonight. The CSS is not quite right on the nav across the the top. The background doesn’t repeat all the way across, it only carries to edge of screen. If I scroll to right, there is no background image

Very exciting! I like your new business model. I was starting to get concerned about that, donations will only take you so far and even if you’re not in it for the money per se, you still have to pay the bills. I think this is a great way to keep the software itself free and open source while creating an incentive for other companies to provide financial support.

I really like the new logo. I never liked the chartreuse in the old one. My parents used to have a house that color (I think the paint was on sale) and everyone in the neighborhood hated it. wink

I’ll be interested to see how many hits the Word search-and-replace gives me on MODx->MODX. I can type MODx in my sleep, so I’ll be making lots of mistakes on that one.

I’ll go lazy and just use modx. My right shift key is sticking anyway.

I used Doc Finder Module for search and replace on my site. Made sure to only choose Documents and check "Case sensitive". Sweet thing! But I don’t remember the number of hits now. I’m guessing many hundreds! smiley

//Oh no... I broke pictures and SyntaxHighlighter code $modx became $MODX! So not recommended! tongue

New site looks great, been keeping an eye on it for a while at preview.modx.com.

Only problem I’ve found it the button (.cta) backgrounds being transparent in Opera and the download buttons not being clickable.
