It’s fairly slow in both Firefox 3.0.5 and Opera 10 Beta. Again, it’s reasonable, but it could be faster if optimized, I think.
I'm learning more about MODx all the time and loving it.
Revolution 2.0.0-rc1 will have better JS-optimizations, but let’s be real here guys - it’s not going to load in <1ms. It is a web application, not a native one. It will wholly depend on your bandwidth, server and processor speed.
It is faster than a page reload (I’ve done time tests), and you cannot get away with not reloading the tree or other page elements that need to be reloaded. If you didn’t reload the respective tree node, then the tree would no longer reflect up-to-date data.
You’ll also see new features in beta-2 similar to Quick Update/Create Chunk - but for snippets and templates as well.
If anyone has suggestions on optimizations, we’re all ears.
And as a FYI, Revolution does not officially support Opera, because Opera is dumb and disables overriding the right-click.

The Manager for me in FF is just a little slower than GMail. Considering how complex it is by comparison, that’s pretty amazing.

I’m cool with that. I just use Firefox for the manager for that very reason. I’ve tried enabling right clicks in the JS options in Opera, but it still refuses to let the manager use right clicks. Oh well. :\ I user Opera for a variety of reasons, but I’m used to certain sites not working properly (Facebook) and just using Firefox instead for those sites.
I think the sluggishness is acceptable, though. I agree: it’s a pretty complex system and for that, it works pretty well.

Try Google Chrome if you really want to see the Manager fly.
Watching the new resource browser redraw over and over again is making me nauseous!
Couldn’t we just stick with the old interface?
Retraction: when that new file browser popped up to pic an image for a TV, I peed my pants, a little. Seriously, that shiz is pimp.
Holly crap on a stick! It’s like a whole nother world.
Even on a Mac under Paralles, Google Chrome shreds this like it was butter on my sun kissed ass.
Jesus, I had no idea. Long live GC (Google Chrome, not GameCube)
