Umm, you can, it’s called settings. parser_max_iterations = 20.
Right, but if you wanted to change the default to 20, it would be nice if you could change it in one place.
I want to eventually allow more granular control of this (i.e. override the setting per Element), so ultimately those lines will probably be replaced with a function that determines the value based on the logic we determine is most appropriate. And for now, you can control this programmatically using specific events or the order of processing by changing the setting in snippets/plugins.
Would it work to make sure that the parser_max_iterations config setting is set to something just once (maybe during the instantiation of the $modx object) using that ternary operator statement, then skip all those isset() tests on it? That would both put the default value of 10 in one place and speed things up a little. Or are we concerned that it might be unset somewhere?
I also experienced the same problem using Xampp 1.7, Windows Vista and i found the solution here http://www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32617 It works fine with me. I can now try out this Alpha release before deciding to using to use MODx for my future web developments.
