Looks like this is related to a PHP 4 specific problem related to mkdir and xPDO; see http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/browse/XPDO-17. This was just addressed after alpha-5 release and should be fixed in SVN now.

        Hi!

Just tried to setup the A5 and it’s a no-go for me. PHP is 5.2.6 and memory_limit is (as adviced) at 64M.

I see the database structure, but no data in tables. The install gives me blank screen (white). Am I missing something here?

I’ve tried the SVN version also but the problem is there.

Glen are you able to see the manager when manually typing in the Manager URL? If so try to login; the alpha does not install any content the front end will be blank.

            1. What version of MySQL?
            2. Is the pdo_mysql extension installed on your php build?
            3. Which MODx package did you download (traditional, advanced, sdk)?
            4. Any errors in modx/core/cache/logs/error.log?

Please make sure you follow all instructions at http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Development+and+Testing+Notes for building MODx Revolution from SVN. This is not the same as downloading one of the alpha distribution packages on wtf.modxcms.com, and requires several steps.

it didnt work with that tutorial either or the tutorial works but not on my problem, I got it to work by setting chmod -R 777 core/packages/ ... probably something in there that needs 777, im new to modx so i have no clue whats in that dir at all.

thanks for a really quick response smiley=

Is anyone making sure the /core/packages is writable....

                    Read the BIG YELLOW BOX

                    http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Fresh+Installation

I already added a cosmetic change in jira to actually show  /core/packages being checked on the installer page

                    Just noticed someone did a -R core/packages

That is not necessary, and I hope you didn’t do that with everything else.

The correct command for a site hosted in a public_html root should look like:

                    cd /var/www/public_html
                    touch core/config/config.inc.php
                    chmod 777 ../public_html/ manager/ connectors/ core/packages/ core/cache/ core/export/ core/config/config.inc.php setup/templates/_compiledtouch core/config/config.inc.php

Then if you are running svn:

Follow the directions link to by OpenGeek

                      Hi!

Just updated my svn-version and did the install. No problems this time. Just want to say that Revolution is looking good at this stage.
