Blank Manager Area

New to modx, but am seeing similar problem. No errors when checking PDO. Installed r2 (not advanced) via unzip locally, then FTP to server, followed /setup/ (new install) and got greenlghts on all databases and file permissions. Setup appears to have created 58 datatables.

Tried to login to manager but it kept re-directing me back to login until I removed the config.cache.php (no session records needed to be removed from settings table).

Once logged in, resource/error panel showed up and home/announcement page displays, however all other menu selections result in blank screen. In most cases, it appears to be doing something, but get no display (whether attempting to create new document, pkg mgmt, or report modx error). Also Logout button in upper right doesn’t function.

APC on/off doesn’t make any difference.

System configuration is basic lampp...
FreeBSD 7.2.5 / Apache 2.2.13 / OpenSSL 0.9.8e
mySQL 5.1.38
PHP 5.2.10 (ram = 256Mb, upld max = 64Mb)
PERL 5.8.9

Have tried three separate browsers firefox (v3.6.3) w/ & w/o firebug, camino (mac 10.4.11) and chrome (mac 10.5.8).

Additional notes...
- the menu pull-down hover colour change works in ffx and camino, but not chrome (does change when selected).
- package management displayed (once only) along far left column in chrome, but disappeared when going anywhere else and no other menu options will display.

What can I try next?

Sounds like most likely is FTP transfer of some files failed and is causing the problem... otherwise, you might have some problems in your environment.

I’ve hit this same issue on our local Ubuntu development server.

I’ve attached the phpinfo output in the hope someone can point me in the right direction.

The front-end website is working but the Manager (once logged in) is completely blank, no output whatsoever.

Thanks for the quick response, but that’s not terribly specific nor helpful. Clearly, ’something’ is wrong, else several of us wouldn’t be in the forum indicating that the mgr section is blank.

That said, I re-FTPd all files from the unzipped (modx-2.0.0-rc-2.zip), DROPped all previous datatables, re-installed a std NEW install all w/ the same result... blank and/or non-functional mgr area (except for menu bar & home/announcement screen).

Still same errors in domain error log...

safe_mod is off, pdo is enabled, etc., etc. have gone thru all the troubleshooting. Any more hints, clues, breadcrumbs of what else to check?

Can you run this script (replacing with your DB info) without errors?

Also:

- Are you running eAccelerator? APC?
- Have you read Troubleshooting Installation and Fresh Installation and have followed those steps, making sure the right dirs were made writable and such?
- Do you get any errors in core/cache/logs/error.log? Any install error log files in that same directory?

Class ’xPDO’ not found in [PATH]/CMS7/core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php on line 557

Hmmm; this makes very little sense; how can a class that is defined in the file causing the error not be found? Sounds very much like a problem with an opcode caching system like APC or eAccelerator.

no eaccelerator and turned off APC, before 2nd install last nite. no change.
yes, have followed all troubleshooting and fresh install info, in fact, every file, folder in the entire install is now set to 777 (see next).

which is why I’ve now set everything to 777 on this test install (5th attempt), just to ensure its not permissions.

That’s definitely a permissions error.

Do you have safe_mode on?

Change the dirs to 0775 and 0664, and ensure that PHP can write to the directories by putting this script in the root and testing:

As I indicated safe mode is OFF & EVERY directory & file is 777 incl root directory to eliminate permissions as an issue. Above code ran as expected and deposited a text file in root dir.
