Parallels is a killer app for internet professionnals.
By using it, you can have on the same computer testing environments but you need to increase your Ram to 1go at least

I’ve bought a mac mini solo to test my work with IE and I didn’t want to boot every ten minutes to be sure of the consequences of my changes.

You should give a try to Parallels. --> http://www.parallels.com

Very nice tip, I’ll test it before installing BootCamp... and maybe wait then till Leopard, the next OS X release which will have BootCamp installed by default (and not beta status anymore...).

      Thanks !

While I am here, I have added some nice software to my collection :
      - colloquy for IRC
      - TechTool Pro for system diagnostics and Defragmentation of HFS+ volumes

I have found out that the Mac Intel version of Open Office 2 will go alpha today, will test that, since NeoOffice for Intel is not out yet... and MS Office for Mac is not cheap...
One thing I’ll buy is TextMate, it’s the Text Editor I have always dreamed of !!!

One absolutely killer app that must be experienced, lived with for a bit, and is free:

One site that’s good in general for Mac-based productivity:

Thanks a lot Ryan, indeed you spoke about quicksilver earlier in this thread but I kind of skipped it so far (many things to learn ! But I do LOVE OS X and so far except a few things like getting the Finder to display things as I want them -> not as straightforward as one would think... I am in awe at the stability, simplicity and looks of this OS...)

Another app which seems nice when you want to chat with fellow PC users is Adium X (especially to chat with MSN and Yahoo Messenger users)...

I use Colloquy/Adium for my IM needs. Gizmo and Skype for my voice chatting/conferencing (I LOVE Gizmo). Mail/iCal for email/calendars. Transmit for FTP, Textmate for text editing and SVNx for Subversion.

I desperately need to start using KGTD: http://www.kinkless.com/

Quicksilver for accessing most things and for tons of other things. Parallels for running the few must-have PC apps including IE and soon, Quickbooks Pro. I predict the next OS X 10.5 will see the need for Parallels totally disappear though and Boot Camp will no longer be needed either... yellow box will finally become a real part of Apple’s software (or was it red box?).

I personally find Adobe apps adequately fast (ignoring boot times) for web-sized graphics but forget it for production-level print work (until a native Intel version surfaces that is).

2GB RAM is almost a requirement too. smiley

cool I had skipped SVNx and I’ll try Gizmo again, promised !

Edit : I installed QuickSilver... I think it will take me some time to take advantage of it (yeah those smart Mac apps are really a testimony to the "Think Different" Motto...), but it sure is a smart tool ! Thanks !!!
