Congrats on the new look - I am even more excited that it is Revolution in the back!

I am in partial agreement with some the the criticisms of the design. Overall, I think the layout is just great - really well done. I have no problem with the size of the fonts, etc. But, The glossy Web2.0 stuff is a bit old hat by now. I would say that everything just how it is, but with a flat look instead of the glossy stuff, would be just about perfect.

Also there is a broken link here: http://modxcms.com/community/jobs.html - the link to the jobs RSS feed.

Anyway, well done - I am excited about what is coming.

I think it’s an amazing improvement. Bravo guys. I do like the idea of using a serif font for the headings too.

Uhm, i’m lost, where can i upload my new addons with the new site and edit my already uploaded ones like on the old site?

You’ll have to log in first, and then click ’Submit a New Extra’.

We’re still working on the front-end editing interface for Extras and working out the bugs. The repository has been completely, wholly rewritten for Revolution.

Also, it might be a good place to note that upon beta-1 release, all approved Revolution-compatible Extras posted on modxcms.com that have transport packages will be available for download straight from MODx Revolution installs via Package Management. Seamlessly integrated.

Congratulations on getting the new design out the door. I know how much work that is, and I know it’s not so fun to hear the criticisms even if they are mixed in with praise. I think the design works, and I’m going to throw in my own opinion that I like the purple and green color combination. It’s less common than some other combinations, and it’s bold. It’s good to be bold.

I did notice something that was broken though: The images and screenshots in the tutorials seem to be missing. For example on this page: http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx096/Templates+Basic

Maybe there’s a redirect or a moved folder or something simple going on there, but I was going to send a link to the tutorials, but it won’t make much sense to do that until the images are fixed. They all seem to be broken.

              Thanks!

I seem to be having trouble logging in, as well as uploading a new resource. I created an account, but when I try to sign in, it says "That account could not be located. Check the username and re-type the password to try again."

I am sure I typed it right, ’cause when I try to register again, it says that username already exists.

As for uploading a resource, I filled out the whole form, but it says I need to provide a package file. Does the file need to be a specific type?

I understand there will be a period ironing out the bugs, The new look is worth any temporary inconvenience!

I also had a question: What was the deciding factor for which front-end templates migrated from the old site?

Well, I saw the design a while back when it was still in development and I’ve liked it all along. It is shiny and fancy and a bit brash with those crazy bright colors, and I think that makes an impression. And as far as whether it’s "leading" or "following" design trends, personally I don’t pay much attention to such fashion (I’m not about to redo my sites every six months just to chase the latest fad). It’s memorable, the layout is clear and attractive, and the various jQuery tricks combine "wow" with improved usability. I think it succeeds at looking both professional and youthful, and despite the home page being crammed full of stuff it doesn’t look crowded. I hadn’t tried FLIR font replacement before I saw this design, but it’s a good alternative to siFR. Congrats to everyone who worked so hard on this!

We’re ironing out issues with the login system. This is also probably the reason for your problem submitting packages. This issue is the thing we are currently working on. Thanks for noticing and letting us know.

I also had a question: What was the deciding factor for which front-end templates migrated from the old site?

There wasn’t really one - some of them were tagged ’template’; most weren’t. We’re in the process of migrating the ones that weren’t over; but it’s a tedious process since they have to be done individually since there’s no common factor.
