        hi there... again... i’m so sorry to be back asking for help. i’ve been working on my nav to get it so that it’s ok in ie 6 and it’s really really close!! the only thing i haven’t got happening is for the main nav item to look different when it’s on that page. i had a similar problem b4 and someone suggested adding:
        #menu ul li.active a{
        background:#F0DFDE;
        color:#9A281F;
        }
        to it. it worked last time, only now that i’ve changed the css for the nav it’s not working. the site is at http://www.outbackstores.com.au/staging/test.html [all the other pages still using the old nav that’s no good in ie6]. css file is at http://www.outbackstores.com.au/staging/css/p7exp.css
        thank you so much...

          thanks for your help ganesh. the ul id="menu" is coming from my outerTpl, which is
          <ul id="menu">[+wf.wrapper+]</ul>
          which is not right then... bugger. i really only need that ’ul id="menu" bit to appear once at the beginnning, not everytime there’s a ’ul’.
          i did a test locally to try and emulate what the p7 site had, and my code was:

          <div id="menuwrapper"><table width="850">
          <tr><td>
          <ul id="menu">
          <li><a href="#">Home</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">item 1</a>
          <ul>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 1.1</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 1.2</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 1.3</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 1.4</a></li>
          </ul>
          </li>
          <li><a href="#">item 2</a>
          <ul>
          <li><a href="#">Vision, Mission & Core Values</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 2.2</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 2.3</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 2.4</a></li>
          <li><a href="#">Sub 2.5</a></li>
          </ul>
          </li>
          </ul>
          <br class="clearit"></td></tr></table>
          </div>

          which seems to work fine [except for not having the page you’re on highlighted in some way].
          does anyone know if i can make the ul="menu" appear just the once? sorry i’m so green. i can try again using the links you recommended ganesh, only this took me so long if i can possibly fix it rather than start again. again...

            Have you called for & defined an inner template?
            Snippet call :
            &innerTpl = `myInner`

            myInner tpl chunk :
            <ul>[+wf.wrapper+]</ul>

            That should give plain <ul>’s for second, third etc. level parents

              I was just skimming through this post and thought i might throw this in: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE
              It’s a installer that allows you to have multiple IE Version on one machine. I found it to be working very well, at least for testing purposes.

                Note that it doesn’t work on Vista, however.

                  hey fellas thank you so much for your help. the innerTpl did the trick bunk58 grin
                  i work on a mac but have an older pc that i’ll bring out of storage and get that software going on it that you recommended banal, thanks.

                  so my last question (i swear!!) is i still havent managed to get an active state happening. the nav code of http://www.outbackstores.com.au/staging/test.html which uses my new wayfinder bizzo and new stylesheets, seems to look similar to that of the other pages eg http://www.outbackstores.com.au/staging/what_is_wellbeing.html which uses my old (not good in ie6) wayfinder. only the old one registered my active state, new one doesn’t.

                  css for it is at www.outbackstores.com.au/staging/css/p7exp.css . right at the bottom i’ve got the bit that seemed to make the last wayfinder do what i want. not sure why it’s not this time...?

                  if i’m asking to many questions and whoever’s moderating thinks i should post this as a job please just let me know, i would be most happy to. thanks again very much.

                    Hi there smiley no worries

                    actually the active-state background-colour works in firefox (no it didn’t). in the last bit of your css you got
                    }
                    #menu ul li.active a{
                    background:#F0DFDE;
                    color:#9A281F;
                    }

                    should it be background-color?

                    cheers, j

                      Kathleen,
                      It’s because, on the test page, you still have the
                      <ul id="menu">
                      appearing at lower levels, for the above code
                      ul#menu li.active a{
                      background:#F0DFDE;
                      color:#9A281F;

                      should work.
                      For plain <ul> nested tags then
                      #menu ul li.active a{
                      background:#F0DFDE;
                      color:#9A281F;

                      should be correct.
