    1. Refresh the browser TinymceWrapper Plugin page - very nicely

Ahem. No laughter please. How does someone "refresh" a plugin page?

For example by pressing <Ctrl> + <F5>. wink The browser's reload button should also do the trick.

Emphasis on the word, browser - nothing to do with MODX ...

No laughter? Can I play with words here?

          Yikes! I know how to refresh a browser! I thought refreshing a plug-in page was something erudite. Something non-obvious like Ctrl-M Ctrl-o Ctrl-d Ctrl-X.

Since I have no clue as to your familiarity with MODX or its lingo or what your developer has already set up...
Please do these things for me... so that we can both the better confirm that something is not, as you put it, faulty with your brain ... or mine ... smiley

            1. Refresh the browser TinymceWrapper Plugin page - very nicely
            2. Go back to your Plugin Properties, is your replaceDefaultFileImageTVbutton still NO?

            3. Now check the word in the dropdown box right before "Add Property Set" - Does it say Default?
            4. Now, as you already know how to check the Plugin Properties, via the Tabs, please click the System Events tab, right before the Properties Tab

            5. Sort the list you see there, by clicking Enabled once or twice until you see some nine checkboxes that are checked

            6. In the fourth column of that table, under heading, Property Set, are the fields, also Default just as in #3 of this list?

If you can't make any headway from the list above, I'll have to check your setup myself. I really don't have a degree in telepathy or psychic devilry.

DonShakespeare, I've made progress since we spoke. I'm using the Chrome browser and it wasn't clearing its cache properly until I went into its settings and did it there. Presto, the plug-in cache refreshed. The replaceDefault setting is still "No" and when I'm editing the resource in the TV tab, I now have an option to make Roxy my default. If I take that option I'm back to my original problem.

So I close the TV tab and then reopen it and I do not take the Roxy option. Now when I click the TV Image button I'm in control of the ModX Browser. So far so good.

I have two choices to select a graphic. I can page through thumbnails or I can use the filter box and enter a keyword to find the graphic. Once I select a graphic and before I click the accept button which I think was called "OK", I can see the path of my selected graphic at the bottom of the dialogue. Don, it shows the full path as /assets/images/News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg. I click "OK" and here's where I have a problem: the path to the graphic now shows as images/News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg. Also, I now automagically get the preview. However, predictably if I save the TV page I do not get the graphic on my web page. Also, predictably, if I go back and add /assets to the path and save the TV all is well but I lose the preview.

So the million$$ question for you Don is how can I get the ModX browser to return the proper absolute path (/assets/images/News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg) and also show me the preview?

I think we're still broken and it appears as hopeless as it was before, but perhaps you have one more bit of magic up your sleeve.

Thank you for all the help so far ... Sam (Gerber)

What are your settings for the media source? I attached mine (see below). basePath and baseUrl point to my images folder, and basePathRelative and baseUrlRelative are set to "Yes". That way the path shown in the TV doesn't have a leading slash and starts with a file or folder placed in /assets/images. The preview in the TV works fine, and the image is displayed in the frontend.

In older MODX versions, the system settings in the file system area were used - I guess they are still the way to go when you don't use media sources (which you should). There, although meanwhile not used by me anymore, filemanager_path and filemanager_url point to my images folder, and filemanager_path_relative and filemanager_url_relative are set to "Yes", the same applies to strip_image_paths.

So I guess you'll have to play around with these settings a bit.

Trust me, things are not as hopeless or broken as before. You made some good quality strides.

I'm sorry enigmatic_user, but I wasn't prepared to change a lot of system settings. I frankly don't know what I'm doing. I was wondering about the Roxy file manager settings but Don told me those don't have to be set any further. I'm not sure at this point how I even find my media source settings. If you can point me to them I'll post the path values you were interested in. Don's previous guidance didn't have me tweaking system settings. I thought that once I set the defaultFileManagerTVbutton to "NO" everything would start working fine with the ModX Browser. --- Sam

Well, as you can imagine, all these things complement each other. That's why I wrote earlier that the rest of the configuration has to be correct for this to work.

So it's probably correct that there aren't any more things to set for the Roxy Fileman (we both can't look at your settings), but of course the prerequisites have to be met.

BTW: There'd also be another (comparingly easy) way to correct this for a few TVs: Just edit the code in a way that it adds the missing part of the path. For example, if you now use

                    <img src="[[*MyImage]]" alt="" />

                    then change this to

                    <img src="/assets/[[*MyImage]]" alt="" />

That way both the TV preview and displaying the image in the frontend should work. But of course configuring everything in a correct way is the the better way in the end.

Sure. In the main MODX menu, call "Media > Media Sources". There should at least be the media source "Filesystem" and probably one or more for assets / images. (If you don't know which is the right one, take a look at the TV definition. In the tab "Media Sources" you should be able to see which media source is assigned to the "web" context.) Open the media source (right-click, then choose "Update Media Source", then you'll be able to see / access the settings.

Well, even the MODX Browser depends on these settings, so it's not donshakespeare's fault... wink

Jan, I'm almost there, thanks to your recent guidance to supplement Don's. I found the Media Sources update sections but I couldn't use your settings, which were assets/images/. When I used those my image link became News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg instead of assets/images/News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg.

I tried different things but the one that worked was leaving the settings for path and path url both completely blank. That syntax added back in assets/images/ giving me assets/images/News Headlines Pics/bldg_phillipsburg_hs.jpg

                      1. Does this make sense to you?

                      2. The only thing that's off right now Jan is that when I invoke the ModX Browser I'm positioned at the root of the site and have to click "assets" then "images" to reposition myself. Can anything be done about that so that I'm already in the "assets" folder?

                      3. One more thing Jan. Can I assume that these changes I made only apply to TV image variables and that everything else will be business as usual? For example, if I link to a PDF file will that continue to work as before, even if I link to it in a TV?

I need to do some testing but it looks like I'm mostly OK.

Let me know your responses to the above 3 items. Thanks very much ... Sam
