Thanks GaneshXL. I really appreciate you taking the time to figure this out. MT is being difficult and I may end up going with someone else. Any suggestions on possible hosts for resellers or Virtual Dedicated Servers? Thanks again.

I hear amazing things about Liquid Web support.

I would second Ryan’s suggestion about Liquid Web. I would also suggest, depending on your load, to look at hostgator and 1and1 I’ve never used either one, but I know people that do.

Did you ever get your problem resolved? Did Media Temple ever respond with anything? Just curious, because I’d like to start reselling hosting and I’ve heard lots of good things about them. Let us know.

          All,
I’m having almost the exact same issue with Media Temple! I’ve been posting my story to this other thread: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,23657.0.html

Has there been any resolution on this issue? Has anyone come up with a "silver bullet"? Media Temple will not support 3rd party software, so the answer has to come from the community. Thanks!

          Regards,
          Matt

Not that I’m aware of. Getting things working in a grid/cloud environment like at MT is not trivial, especially considering the variety of packages they need to run. I’m sure it will be sorted out at some point in the future, but until then you might be best served by switching to another provider.

It’s your virtual server, can’t you get them to configure PHP the way you want? The only problem here is they are not allowing users to set_include_path. I’ve seen this problem on some really terrible free PHP hosts, but never with regard to a reputable host such as MediaTemple. I use their GridServer (GS) service and run MODx fine on that service. Seems strange that they would purposely disable this capability for people paying for virtual private servers.
