Can you look at your server logs and see if there’s any errors that might shed some light on this?

Sottwell, would you like me to email you the logs? Here’s the errors I found:

I am guessing that the server is running php in safe mode and has a set include_path. What leads me to think this is this line in the errors include_path=’.:’ where the path should be pointing to some dir in the manager dir

I would contact your host MediaTEmple and ask them if this is the case. I have never hosted with them but since they are popular with the developing crowd (well mostly the blogging crowd) they may be able to shed some light on this.

Here is a post in the Mint forum that says you need edit the .htaccess file to change this
        http://haveamint.com/retired/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1703

You can also edit your php.ini file and bypass the include_path setting:

OR just drop them a support ticket and they should resolve this for you.

dev_cw, thanks for taking the time to look at my problem. I did as you suggested and found some interesting things...interesting to me at least. In ModX on the php() information I found that register_globals was set to on in the local setting and off in the master setting. I don’t know if that means anything or not, but I did think it was strange. I have a ticket in to the support center and hopefully they’ll resolve this soon.

No problem. From what I hear and read MT is very helpful with these issues. Their new grid servers seem to provide a lot of flexibility so you should be able to resolve this in no time. Keep us posted grin

Will do. No response yet from MT, but we’re also on their (dv) servers. Dedicated Virtual. So, I’m not sure where the disconnect is, but hopefully they’ll be responsive to this. I’ll be sure to post their response.

Got a response back from Media Temple here’s what they said:
Your management interface at http://www.yoursite.com/manager/ came up blank, though it was working previously. As a courtesy, I enabled register_globals in your php.ini as documented here:

                http://kb.mediatemple.net/article.php?id=664

                Your page is now working.

If you have any further questions regarding your (mt) Media Temple services, please feel free to contact us any time.

Well, all he did was turn on register globals and restart apache, so it worked for a few moments then stopped. I’m completely lost, I’m very tired of dealing with this and I have no idea where to go on this anymore. Media Temple isn’t helping and I really don’t think it’s a ModX problem (I’ve reinstalled, upgraded with no luck) and I’m pretty sure it’s a virtual server issue I just can’t put a finger on it. There is one weird thing that stands out that I mentioned before, register_globals was set to on in the local value and off in the master value. Could this be a problem? I know it’s not THE problem, but FWIW there it is. Thanks.

Can’t remember if anyone mentioned this, but is your ht.access file renamed to .htaccess (if you are using FURLS)?

Maybe you could also temporarily try bumping up the permissions on the directories under manager to 0777 just to see what happens.

                    Just learning the ropes.

yeah, the .htaccess is good. the site itself is working fine the manager is what’s screwed up. Shouldn’t permissions just work or not work? They wouldn’t work some times and not others, would they?

There is (or should be) also a .htaccess file under the manager folder that turns the rewrite engine off. It could be caching or something that makes it look like it is working more than once.

                      I’m just brainstorming here.

(A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.)
