How much easier is it to just upgrade to a newer Evo?

My current Evo is expanded in the root folder, assets, images, manager folders etc. Is it possible to put an upgraded Evo into root (for example root/Evo2/ ) so that I can build a new version of the site whilst keeping the old one live? Basically I want to start afresh on certain parts but dont want to wipe the original site off until the new one is complete. Therefore my paths would be as the following examples:
root/assets (Current Evo)
roots/Evo2/assets (Newer Evo)
and then build it in the manager using www.mydomain.co.uk/Evo2/manager?

Sorry just got the PM. thanks by the way! Would it make a difference if I just used an upgraded Evo instead of Revo? If you want to start over - use Revo, the upgrade path to the next version of whatever comes from MODX will be better than Evo
Use the info in the PM and the guides to set up your server and then create a subdomain for the Revo site
That way you have the Evo site as usual and can work on the Revo site without bothering the Evo site
Sorry to be a pain, just weighing up the best option for me. I built the site using Evo and I know I have to change alot if switching to Revo

Ok, sorry thought that was just an Evo/Revo thing. Ok will look at creating a subdomain. Thank you so much for all the help, here and the other threads.

Quote from: distant_smile at Apr 25, 2014, 04:05 PMI have downloaded modx Revo to my root folder. Evo is located here:
www.mydomain.co.uk/manager
and in theory Revo should be located here:
www.mydomain.co.uk/revo2/manager
Only when Igo to the latter I get an Error 503: Serice unavailable Could not load MODX config file?
Am I doing something wrong?
DS
did you run the setup?

Hi Bruno,
No I didn't! Sorry it's been many years since I set up Evo, so am a bit rusty. But I think I will be using an updated Evo instead and doing it using the sub-domains as recommended by Iusemodx. Thank you
