I have checked in my installation of the 2.2.11 version and in the database in PHPMYADMIN there are no tables atall created. Like this: http://prntscr.com/2u52it
It seems a bit strange since i have done the installation and it did say it did connect to my database and did not show any errors.

Here is a screen of my 2.2.9 installation in phpmyadmin. http://prntscr.com/2u52ob
It do have lots of stuff in it.... But i still cant login.
Checking this database in the http://prntscr.com/2u52xs
it seems as there is a user created, but with a blank username...
so i edited it and added a username.
then went to attributes of the users and added an email.
then i asked for a new password and all that worked. so now i could login on this version.
but im get this screen when loging in to the manager.
    http://prntscr.com/2u54j7

In the database of version 2.1.5 it looks like this http://prntscr.com/2u53l1
and the user table had a username connected to it already and this version works to login at.

So it seems that the 2.2.11 version does not even generate any tables in the database.
The 2.2.9 generate tables but seems to be broken since it wont display the correct things when logging in after editing the database.
And the 2.1.5 version seems to work.

I'm curious, when you say that you couldn't log into MODX 2.2.11, did you see a login screen?

If there are no database tables, no login screen would exist. Something's fishy...

The 2.2.9 install is displaying a known "annoyance", and you should go into the system_settings table and turn both compress_css and compress_js off (0). Then delete all the files in the core/cache folder, clear your browser cache, and re-log in. Let us know if that fixes the css in the manager.

The register_globals and magic_quotes are irrelevant for your version of PHP, but the rest still is relevant as far as I know. You'll want to make sure these extensions are all turned on. I didn't see SimpleXML in your php.ini file but I think all the rest are there.

        PHP Compatibility

        5.1.2 and above (excluding 5.1.6 and 5.2.0)
        Required extensions:
        zlib
        JSON (or PECL library)
        mod_rewrite (for friendly URLs/.htaccess)
GD lib (required for captcha and file browser)
        PDO, specifically pdo_mysql (for xPDO)
        ImageMagick (for thumbnails)
        SimpleXML
        cURL (for Package Management)
        safe_mode off
        register_globals off
        magic_quotes_gpc off
PHP memory_limit 24MB or more, depending on your server

Your host doesn't like to be translated for some reason, but they do have an English version of their home page.

The Varnish page (and all their other pages) refuse to be translated. The result is blank.

Is that PHP 5.5.7 without option to downgrade, or can you try 5.4?

Made a video when i did a new installation right now.
            What am i doing wrong?

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBzMcPEv8As

Tried to locate the stuff in the table about CSS
compress_js etc. But there are no tables like that under system settings. Tho that was on this installation 2.2.12.

Afaik i can not downgrade my php, but ill look into that.

OK, watched the video. Couple things...

When you create your database, it doesn't show you creating the user and assigning all permissions to tat db user. How did you create the db user, and what permissions does the user have?

When you connect to the db, you're using the host's name, try localhost instead.

The table you're looking for is the system_settings table, probably has a prefix. Open that table, search "compress" and you'll find both compress_css and compress_js. Set them to 0.

When i create a database, a super-user account is created automatically.
That is the username and password i use for the installation.
It have worked when i have previously installed phpbb forum, wordpress, joomla and drupal.
So i dont see a reason why this would be an issue for Modx. The permissions this use have are full read/wright permissions.

Try localhost? I will try that but it sounds wierd.

Found the compress_css and compress_js and have set them to 0.
                It did not do anything.
                Still cant login.

Ill do a fresh install again and try to do the database changes and use localhost...

I don't think you are doing anything wrong... your database is not local as I see it in the video. Google Drupal and OPcache wink in fact, google 'OPcache problems' wink

It's just too bad your Webhost doesn't allow you to use your own .htaccess file on your webspace. My bet is OPcache. But I hope the other community members can proove me wrong.

Btw, a good webhost is one that gives you the opportunity to install a wide range of content management systems. They should also give you the choice to 'at least' switch between two versions of PHP. For instance; say you have a website with lots of data. Then your webhost announces that they are going to upgrade their PHP version, or add/disable certain features and it would have consequences for your website.. you'd be annoyed would you? What will you do then?

And finally, not being able to use your own .htaccess file.. it just blows.

                    Ok, did a new install.

It did not accept localhost as the address.
So i had to use the one im given by my provider. Then it works. Since that also works with other CMS i think it should be correct.

Before i tried to login i did the database changes again, set the compress tables to 0

And it did not work, still can not login.

Here, again, is a link to a page with a list of MODX-friendly hosts. At some point, you have to stop beating your head against a brick wall:

For a person in your situation, the host blaming MODX is the opposite of being helpful.
