Well trying to speak to my server provider. They seem to think that MODX is the problem and they have no faults.

So i donno what to do and now this attempt to start using Modx is failing. Losing motivation after spending the whole day just trying to install the CMS.

Just out of curiosity, who is the host? They don't sound particularly helpful.

you can also try modx on a free modxcloud lab-account

        https://modxcloud.com/signup/lab-account.html?ref=lgnheader

I think this is the fastest way to get started.

I think I mentioned earlier in this thread (if not, I should have), that inability to log in is sometimes caused by a problem with sessions. The session data from the login form is lost before it can be evaluated, though I think this is usually tested and reported by the current version of MODX.

There is some information here: https://forums.modx.com/thread/10992/solved-manager-login-session-problems-on-shared-cloud-grid-servers

Ok got response from my provider now where they quite clearly state that it is not within their servers the problem occurs, that it is Modx that got a bug and that is what cause the problem.

So it seems i cant use modx for some weird reason.

The resources everyone here have linked have not yielded anything for me. My knowledge about php and other things are not very big, so it is a bit hard to try different things if not spelled out exactly.

                ok, this is interesting.

Downloaded version 2.2.11, the one i have been using during the whole thread here.
That one did not work obviously.

                Now i tried version 2.2.9
                That one did not work.

                Then i tried version 2.1.5
                That one did work.

So to me it seems like Modx have some bugs or something messed up in the 2.2 version that prevent me from using it.
Version 2.1 worked for me. But what am i missing out from, by not being able to use the latest version?

                And finaly
How do i make a more formal bug report to Modx?

Many thousands of people have installed and are using MODX 2.2, so it's unlikely (though possible) that your problem is caused by a bug in MODX. You can report bugs at https://github.com/modxcms.

Did you check the first record in the modx_users table in the database with PhpMyAdmin, as suggested? What did you find. [ed. note: BobRay last edited this post 12 years, 8 months ago.]

I'm going to second this, and call the server on their configuration because it simply can't be that all thousands and thousands of us using 2.2 all this time happily can have missed a "bug" that doesn't allow the administrator to log in. None of us would have been able to work for the past year if there was such a thing. We know your unpacked files aren't an issue, as multiple versions do the same thing.

Not all servers are created equal, and their configurations not always appropriate for MODX. By the way, what exactly is your server information? PHP version? Have you checked through all the server configuration requirements found in the docs?

Furthermore, what happens if you update to 2.2.x from 2.1?

If you can log in now, check your administrator user permissions. The admin should be set to the Administrator user groups, with a role of Super User. Also, check the sudo box for the administrator user while you're in there.

Under Reports -> System Info, do the settings match the requirements at http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/getting-started/server-requirements

That you've persevered with this despite the issues sounds like you're gonna be happy once you get in and start playing.

It could be a date-time conflict between the database and PHP. It could be server-side caching issues. It could be the version of PHP or MySQL.
