New install of Revo 2.2.6 when attempting to download extras from package management I get no response and the error message:
'cannot connect to provider at: http://rest.modx.com/extras/' .
This has never happened before with countless installs and same server set up. Can someone shed some light? Is this a 2.2.6 issue?
I'm having issues with Migx 2.2.4 (which I use extensively) on Revo 2.2.7, and this is why I haven't upgraded versions.

    Php version 5.3.23, cURL enabled

The service does look online to me, and it works fine in one of my 226 sites. While I've not seen any notifications of it being down, any chance it was a temporary blip? Any specific errors in your site's error log?

        This error comes up:
(ERROR @ /modx/modx-2.2.6/connectors/workspace/packages-rest.php) Could not connect to provider at: http://rest.modx.com/extras/

It appears to be on this particular server so there must be some php or security issue? Never had a problem before.

I've now tested the same server with other versions (V 2.2.7) and again the Package management extras don't load. There must be a PHP setting that needs altering but I wouldn't know where to start. What does the Package management connection to http://rest.modx.com/extras/ rely on?

cURL and Sockets enabled. Very occasionally the list of packages shows up!

It must be something with your local installation or connection; I have no problems with three different installations.

Thanks, I'll persevere to find the issue.

I don't believe that this is a localized issue - I have just begun having the same problem on a brand new, un-launched site. It should be noted that the site was working previously, and without any changes being made to any configurations, I am now getting the following error when I try to access Package Management to download extras:

An error occurred while connecting to the Provider: MODX received a blank response from the provider. Please double check your service URL and make sure the provider is a valid provider.

My setup is as follows: MODx 2.2.7 with cURL and Sockets enabled, running on a Hostgator server using Linux CentOS. I have also tried setting the provider url to http://rest.modxcms.com/extras/ from http://rest.modx.com/extras/ as per conversations on this issue in the forums from a few years back. This didn't work either.

I am able to access Package management on other sites currently though - this is a very perplexing issue. Any further thoughts from folks?

UPDATE: I have also tried adding the IP address of the Resource Provider (199.47.222.137 to my knowledge) to the whitelist in cPanel. No dice there either. I also tried another setup on the same host (Hostgator) and it works fine as well. [ed. note: designcouch last edited this post 13 years, 4 months ago.]

I am having the same problem with a new Revo 2.2.7 on BlueHost. I have another account on BlueHost running Revo 2.2.6 and it doesn't have any problems. Both sites are on the same IP 207.216.55.29 and run PHP5.2
