Media Source Access Policies & Templates Missing

I made attempt to limit access to the filesystem by editing the Media Source Admin Policy Access Permissions.

Every thing went fine till I tried to select a policy. There are none. OK, search the forum (cuz I know I saw this recently) and find a couple threads. In one, it's solved by reinstalling. In one, it's solved some other way (didn't try it, didn't look at the referenced thread).

I check into the policies, to find that the Resource Admin policy, based on the Resource Admin Template has no policies at all. Upon checking, none are even included in the policy, thus none can be selected. The Resource AdminTemplate also contains no policies.

The Resource User policy however, has 3 of 7 policies selected. It is based on the Resource User template which contains 7 total policies.

So I proceeded to log into three other 2.2.5 installations to check.

First Installation - Able to add resource group and select from Media Source Policies:

OK, so far so good. They're both the same but Admin template says 0. That's odd.

Template (note, not plural)

Each site was upgraded in the exact same way. Cleared cache, logged out, core/cache cleared, zip uploaded, files unpacked on the server, run setup.

Now my question is, since there is no Media Source AdminTemplate to look at, are the policies from the Media Source UserTemplate the ones that should be there? And, 7 of 7 should be selected, correct?

My concern is that out of 4 installations, two are completely different than the other two. One is missing a policy template entirely, one is using an administrator template, and all of them that have AdministratorTemplates, none are selected (0).

While I know it's possible to change these, I am certain that I've not touched Media Sources in any but the First Installation site. Furthermore, I'm fairly certain that I did not uncheck 169 out of 173 admin policies, ever. Nope, I'd rather eat glass than ever do that.

Is this a bug or an installation error? If an installation error, then why if everything is done identically at upgrade?

Only two of these installations are on the same server, one of which is working, one is wonked.

Which I have basically said the following:

Posting that I have this exact same issue, currently running on 2.2.4-pl. This is a fairly new installation and have run this version from the start. I have one additional user created that I wanted to assign the media source to. Happy to share any information you want or give you access to the website.

Perhaps it would be worth upgrading to 2.2.5-pl?

From what I have read the issue can not be replicated and therefore a fix not found? [ed. note: mflammia last edited this post 13 years, 9 months ago.]

Just upgraded to version 2.2.6-pl and the now the policies are showing.

In our case we updated to 2.2.6 on the MODX Cloud and the policies do not show. The drop down shows for a millisecond and then disappears.

Probably something you have already done but I flushed all sessions and permissions and deleted the cache directory

Yes, we did the clear cache, manual delete of cache, flush permissions and sessions. Didn't make a difference unfortunately. It is one of those issues that not everyone has but some do and therefore, will be very difficult to solve.

It does seems that way unfortunately.

I did notice something in common with the first post in this thread is that the difference between the working and none working was that under Security, Access Controls, Access Policies, Media Source Admin - Media Source Administration Policy shows blank for active permissions where as the working one shows 7 of 7?

Might mean something to someone?

I did what was mentioned in the other thread (https://forums.modx.com/thread/77606/media-source-user-group-policy-missing?page=3#dis-post-446412), namely reinstalling 2.2.6 on MODX Cloud and now I can select an Access Policy for the Media Source.

I have same issues with that and a workaround:

1: Export the Access-Polivies from 2.2.5
2: delete in 2.2.6 the empty policies
3: import the previous exportet policies in 2.2.6

That works.

For those without a 2.2.5 foiles are attached for import

ps.: after import have a look at table modx_access_policies
Here the context policy was properly deleted before import,
the media source was not deleted from the table but was no more
