    Good afternoon!

Somehow my site has gone nuts! It has lost all of its linking for some reason, and now I am getting some goofy items thrown into the address of the pages.

    http://www.unionky911.org/~1136687.1207121/htdocs/home.html

It was working fine last night, no errors or anything in the system logs, and I can’t figure out what has happened. Anyone with any insight able to help me out?

I am using friendly URLS, but haven’t touched anything on the site for about a week.

    Thanks in advance!

Looks like your hosting has changed configuration somewhere. Try turning off friendly URLs, clear the cache, then turn it back on again. That helped with one site I had similar problems with.

        You’re right:

        http://www.unionky911.org/~1136687.1207121/htdocs/home.html

        should be

        http://www.unionky911.org/home.html

The "goofy items" you’re seeing (/~1136687.1207121/htdocs/) are obviously part of some file path making it into your site. Not sure if you’re on Dedicated or Shared hosting, but it sounds like Shared, and your host may have upgrading your environment for you! How nice! j/k

Have you tried disabling friendly URLs and seeing if the "goofy" stuff still gets output?

EDIT: Nice, Sottwell beat me to the punch!

Ok, tried turning off FURL’s, and clearing the cache....no luck.

Called the host, and surprise, they did a security upgrade of the PHP system from V 4.0 to V 4.4.6.

Their engineering dept is working on it from their end, but it appears as though the Wayfinder script (v.1.0) that I am using for the navbar is spitting the extra info into the address.

Anyone have any help there? I’m not familiar with the wayfinder script, but will begin looking.

          Thanks again!

I suspect that Wayfinder won’t be the solution. Wayfinder calls the API function makeURL in the parser. There seems to be a whole rash of odd results from the automatic base_url and site_url in the config.inc.php file lately. I wonder if this is all related somehow.

Take a look at the phpinfo (in the Manager, Reports -> System Info) and look at the PHP Variables section at the bottom of the page. See what the $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"] is.

              HOLY C**P!

I am having the same problem. I had posted earlier to hardcode the siteURL settings in the config.inc.php file. Unfortunately, they have web forwarding goign on, so that solution won’t work. I checked my setting on PHP_SELF and it lists as : " /~1129015.1196771/htdocs/beta/manager/index.php"

              I’m on Network Solutions, r u 2?

                Yep!  Network Solutions!

I’ll check the php(info) too and see what has happened there as well.

                _SERVER["PHP_SELF"] /~1136687.1207121/htdocs/manager/index.php

Does that look like the problem? I’m thinking it is, but not sure how to correct it yet.....

Indeed that is the problem; the code to determine the base_url uses that value.

Hmm...is there anyway to solve this? Maybe .htaccess or php.ini? I wonder what PHP_SELF used to be for each given page (w/ FURL on)

PHP_SELF has nothing to do with FURL. It’s a PHP constant value, as reported by the server. It totally depends on the server configuration.

                      ’PHP_SELF’

The filename of the currently executing script, relative to the document root. For instance, $_SERVER[’PHP_SELF’] in a script at the address http://example.com/test.php/foo.bar would be /test.php/foo.bar. The __FILE__ constant contains the full path and filename of the current (i.e. included) file.

If PHP is running as a command-line processor this variable contains the script name since PHP 4.3.0. Previously it was not available.
