Well, I don't know what happened. I had not made any other changes since the last post I made, but now I am able to access the file manager and all other portions of the manager back end, and I am not getting the error message above shown. Site is active, and I can even change the start page to one of the other resources and it works just fine. Soooo.... Thank you for the help folks. I don't know exactly what cured it, but I don't really care now either! smiley

Be sure to delete all the files in the core/cache directory and clear your browser cache and cookies.

Did you run Setup after moving the files? If not, try that.

Good point BobRay. I know to clear the cache, but I don't think I have ever gone in and deleted the core files in the directory (unless clearing the cache is doing that already). Ironically, I am going to switch everything over to Revo. The guys that will ultimately take over my SEO side of things have asked that I start the site with Revo. That makes enough sense to me that I am going to go ahead and do that. So... I just backed up all my files and in a few minutes will delete my Evo install and put in Revo and build the site up from there. Hopefully I don't run in to any issues!

Clearing the cache in the Revolution Manager is supposed to clear the files in the core/cache directory, but it doesn't always work in some versions of MODX. Clearing them manually never hurts, and it can clear up a variety of odd problems.

Ok, now that I have Revo installed, I am back to the issue of not being able to publish the page... I moved all the files from the modx folder that automatically installs in the html_public folder to the public folder. However, once I do that I cannot login to modx any longer. What is the difference with Revo versus Evo on this issue? Once I had moved all the content from the modx Evo folder I was still able to access manager and login. Why can't I do that with Revo?

Revolution has several files that define the location of the core directory:

              § MODX root directory
              § /manager/
              § /connectors/
              § /setup/includes/

Normally, they're set correctly when you run Setup, but with all your moves, things may be confused. If you make them correct and correct any wrong paths in core/config.config.inc.php, then run Setup again, you should be good to go. Be sure to delete all files in the core/cache directory and clear your browser cache and cookies before running Setup.

I realize that now I am going to have to get to know Revolution after I have just really begun to learn Evo and got that to work. I guess what I am not understanding (keeping in mind I am at closer to a beginning level) is the issue I had with Evo that I am seeming to have with Revo. Revo also installs in to a folder in the "public_html/modx-2.1.4-pl/" directory on my host. When I moved all those files from the Evo folder directly to the public folder it worked. Should I do the same thing in Revo or am I going to be modifying the above files so that when someone types in "www.mydomain.com" it knows to go to my modx folder in my public directory?

In Revolution, you should be able to put things anywhere you want as long as the paths in the files I listed above are correct and you then run Setup.

I'm actually getting the following to pull up when I type my domain in to a browers:

                    "Index of /

                    .ftpquota
                    cgi-bin/
                    modx-2.2.0-pl2/

                    Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 Phusion_Passenger/3.0.9 mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at edibleornot.net Port 80"

I have, as of yet, been unable to change any setting or file to make my "published" page in modx Revo to show as my index page for my web site. Let me know what else to try!!! Thanks!

You need to enter the URL of the directory where the MODX index.php file is.

Try adding this to the end of your URL:

                      /modx-2.2.0-pl2
