But when someone enters my url to go to my page, or for SEO purposes, they shouldn't have to enter /modx-2.2.0-pl2. What setting am I missing to set it so when someone enters "www.myurl.com" it pulls up my home page that I have set in modx? That is the piece I am missing, and I know it is going to be something really simple that will make me shake my head at!

You just installed the files in the wrong place. Everything in the modx-2.2.0-pl2 directory should be moved to the directory above that (probably www or public_html).

For future reference, the way to do it right at first is to unzip the modx files on your local machine, zip up everything in the directory containing the core and manager folder (one level down), transfer that file to the public_html directory, and unzip it there.

rerun Setup after moving the files.

You could also handle it with rewrites in .htaccess in the public_html directory, but I prefer having the files in the root to begin with unless you will have multiple sites on the same server.

Thanks BobRay! I told you it was going to be something very simple (and dare I say stupid on my part...). Indeed, what I was doing was unzipping the folder then uploading the "folder" with all the files to my public_html folder on the server. I was getting everything set up just fine but entering my url in to a browser would not resolve to the proper home page. I unzipped the modx files then used my ftp client to upload the files in the folder that was unzipped directly in to my public_html folder, THEN ran setup. Everything resolves just fine now! I guess that was just never a clear step in any instructions or tutorials that I read/viewed. Now I look forward to tackling some finer points of modx! Thanks!!!

Glad you got it sorted. It's an easy mistake to make.

Now rename your modx-2,2.0-pl2 folder and clear the cache. If *everything* works as it should, you can delete that folder, though I'd wait a while to make sure everything works.

I actually didn't even upload the modx-2.2.0-pl2 folder, I just uploaded all the files within it to my public_html folder and then ran setup. Everything appears to be working just fine.
