While it limits your options "out of the box", the manager is now themeable thus I guess you could modify the layout as you see fit pretty easily (banzai, correct me if I am wrong here)

David, I am aware of that. I pointed those issues as they concern a featured theme for the manager. Remember it will be the theme ’of choice’ for most users and because of that it should be as versatile and as useful as possible. Thus all rendering and layout issues are important IMO.

Problem with position:fixed is IE needs some hacking to do it but sure can be done...

IE7 does support ’position:fixed’. MS announced they will provide IE7 through Windows Update with critical status (or at least highly recommended) which in short time will make it replace the 6. Thus it wouldn’t be an issue any more.

We’ve been talking about the future of MODx and the need to build a more accessible manager down the line.

Frames are definitely a goner for 1.0 so it’s rather a matter of getting rid of them a soon as it’s possible rather than planning to keep them wink  I don’t think anyone is still keen on frames nowadays. The idea would rather be introduce some ajax to avoid those refreshing frames rolleyes

Jason will elaborate on this, but there are some pretty great ideas behind the manager for 1.0, and basically you should get a lot of freedom to customize the GUI smiley

    Good news!

It’s been discussed lately on the Custom Alias plugin thread, this might be of interrest to you smiley

Interesting. However what I thought of was a native handling of non-ASCII characters as a part of full multi-language support.

Custom scheme for alias generation would be usful as well.
This is the web: the only thing you know about who will come is that you don't know who will come.

Huge favor request regarding style change requests for the upcoming 095 release:

If you have some issues with the manager styling, please attach CSS stylesheet(s) that fixes the problems/oversights. That would be a tremendous help.... also please note which SVN revision your changes are based upon (please try to work from the latest SVN trunk).

      Thanks!

And while we’re on the subject of the manager and supporting various browsers (like Safari or Opera), the beauty of the next release is the simplicity of creating your own custom themes to suit your personal preferences like Lucida Grande in Safari (will probably change this for the final to Arial or Helvetica)...

To add a new custom theme, just drop a modified copy of one of the existing themes into manager/media/style/. Minimal tweaks include changes to the style.css (your tweaks... major or minor) and style.php (your new style path/folder name). You can optionally replace or add images (make sure to update style.php) and change the login and welcome page html layouts by altering the various .html files in that folder as well.

I’ve stumbled across a bug in the latest DropMenu snippet (the one included with the latest beta on the webpage); when you enable the ’selflink’ ánd the ’hereclass’ it somehow wont output the ’here’ class into the HTML. Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but the ’stable’ release didn’t do this wink Solved. http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,6823.0.html

Congratulation for the 0.9.5 beta (I’m testing the beta 5).

          I’ve some feedbacks :
          - In the example site, the Ditto call for the Blog section use the chunk ’FormBlogComments’ but the chunk used in the post is ’Comments’ (with jot). I think ’FormBlogComments’ is now deprecated ?
          - In the blog section, NewsPublisher is used to create post in frontend. Is this snippet is alive ? The code hasn’t been update since a long time. is there an official substitute ?
          - The eForm snippet doesn’t work if you choose a language different form English in the site configuration. It’s a snippet bug but not good for those who are testing the site with a different language.

          Good Job

I’ve added a post in the eForm thread to ask to check if the language file exist.

Otherwise, when you are in the home page of the manager. I’ve a warning sign without any explication in the configuration control window.

And I’ve replied there smiley (I’ll work on improving the include code)

I’ve just now downloaded the latest svn version and it failed the install with this error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax near ’character set latin1 collate latin1_general_ci NOT NULL default ’’, ...at line 1 during the execution of SQL statement CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `cms_jot_subscriptions`

Now I’m guessing that’s caused by my ancient MySQL server (version 3.23.58). What’s the minimum requirement for 0.95?

Good catch TobyL! The issue is the character set and collate portions of the statement, which are not allowed in that version, and really shouldn’t be in the statement anyway, since that should ultimately be left to the default collation sequence set for the database container. I’m correcting it now and should have it checked in momentarily.
