Getting Friendly URLs to work

  I just tried a site in the root folder www/ and it worked with FURL enabled so that doesn’t seem to be the problem.
  I’ve attached a copy of my httpd.conf file in case it helps.

  Thanks for sharing your file. I replaced my httpd.conf file with your file. No change.
  
  Would you agree this is a local wamp problem? I hoping that when I move this to a hosted server environment I’m starting fresh?

  I remember having some problem getting FURL to work on wampserver but can’t remember what it was!
  I came across the solution in this forum, but it was a side comment rather than the main subject of the thread.
  I’m pretty sure you shouldn’t have any issues on a commercial web host.
  I don’t always bother with FURL during testing as it has always worked when on a live site.

  I use wamp on my desktop server and I don’t have any problems with it or FURLs
  
  From what I can tell your .htaccess file is the same as mine, except I have mine in a sub folder.
  
  

  Options +FollowSymLinks
  RewriteEngine on
  RewriteBase /Your sub folder name/
  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
  RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
  RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /Your sub folder name/index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

  
  
  The only difference I can see is that I have both suffix and prefix set to blank and all the aliases options set to Yes.
  
  The only other obvious issues I can think of are to make sure you have the rewrite module actually enabled, and also you keep referring to your file as ht.access. Don’t know if this is just an oversight on your part, but it should of course be .htaccess

  I also notice that you have the Options +FollowSymLinks uncommented. That has given me trouble on a few sites until I figured out that the server setup required it.

  Can someone remind me again how to put the "no case" [NC] instruction in the .htaccess code?
  
  I’ve tried it in several places with no luck.

  I can’t get the [NC] to work on individual pages :
  

  RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA,NC]

  
  But it works on the domain name :
  

  RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^your-domain\.co\.uk [NC]

  
  Anyone have a fix?
