Thank you to everyone for replying with your progress. I am currently working on a new translation kit. It will simply include the old modx files and a sister file showing you the new changes. I hope to have it ready very soon. I am sorry that it is taking so long. Please continue to ensure you are as up to date as possible and that you packages are consolidated to make the transition easier.

    Thank You,
    Justin

I’ve been thinking about this some more after updating the Portuguese (missing Ajax Search I realized) and Swedish translations for the RC2 release (only languages except English that will be distributed for RC2 that should be correct). Keeping the "translation kit" in same structure currently is not totally optimal in my opinion, as it’s a bunch of overly-nested folders. Plus, I’d really like to just update the wiki when there are changes, and let that serve as the defacto repository for new translation sources. That way we’ll have an always up-to-date English version available for new translations, and the wiki will serve as the diff engine.

Please see main manager diff file between 095 and 096rc.

That was achieved by going to the wiki, choosing the main language category on the wiki home page, choosing Manager en-us selection, then clicking the history tab and the appropriate diff options. What it shows is the additions and changes to the 0.9.5 English language file from the original translation kit compared to those that exist in the current 096 RC build. I tried to explain this in the category page, but probably did a bad job. Any suggestions or clarifications needed ... it’s a wiki so just make ’em! tongue

        Hi there,

I just updated the Portuguese language pack, now including AjaxSearch translation.

I agree with Ryan: there should be a central repository for all translations. Otherwise, it gets difficult to keep track of the modifications made to the language files. I agree also that the wiki seems well suited for this, so i just uploaded all en-us "translatable" files i could find to the wiki, in the Language Files Category.

It would be great if all new snippets and modifications were posted there, it would speed up the translation process by a great amount. For instance, I hadn’t done the translation for AjaxSearch because I don’t use it myself, but if the lang file had been posted in a page like this, I could have spotted it earlier and dealed with it right away. It really isn’t that much work: besides the main manager lang file, the other resouces lang files are often small enough to be translated in less than 5 minutes...

This leads me to something I thought about yesterday when searching for some resources in the repository: there’s lots of content, but sometimes it’s kind of difficult to find the latest version. Maybe it’s time to make some housekeeping, e.g. merging snippet versions on the same page, maybe keeping old versions as extras.

What do you think about this? If there’s any way I can help with this, feel free to ask...

        Take care, JP

You’re correct Joe... the Resources listings shouldn’t contain all the older versions... lots of work to do there.

The base language files have now been completed for all the main resources including TinyMCE on the wiki thanks mostly to joeindio... thank you Joao! For anyone wanting to know what the current status of translations is, they can find the base English language files there, including many which are not in the primary distribution.

Just for the sake of clarifying, which build should we use : RC1 from the beta download page or a SVN build ?
I guess first option but I’d rather be sure before getting things done tongue

Okay I am done with the manager translation smiley

Now I checked the wiki for the rest of the language pack but no diffs there, thus I checked for myself with TextWrangler:

                  • DocManager has no diffs
                  • QuickEdit has no diffs
                  • AjaxSearch had no lang folder, you have to translate the full included english.inc.php
                  • Ditto’s language file is completely overhauled, only normal since Ditto 2.0 ships with 0.9.6 : full translation
                  • eForm has 3 new strings : $_lang[’ef_multiple_submit’] - $_lang[’ef_submit_time_limit’] - $_lang[’ef_version_error’] which are at the bottom of the file (easy to spot, thanks Jelle)
                  • Jot has no language file, but templates seem to be identical (to be confirmed, didn’t go yet through all the templates)
                  • Wayfinder has no language file
                  • Weblogin : templates are identical.

                  Thought I would share smiley

All in all, not a big amount of work is required I estimate it (without the checking diff thing about 30/45 minutes top).

I’ll post the french language pack in a few minutes grin

Edit : Didn’t find a new Readme file : no changes there ?

It was less work as expected, so here are the results of the Dutch jury grin

No, seriously: here’s the Dutch language pack for 0.9.6. I included all files as .txt files with the same naming convention as in the wiki.

Owww... btw: I saw a typo in the readme file: under ’Upgrading previous MODx installs’ it says ’You should be able to upgrade to 0.9.5’. This has to be ’0.9.6’ of course, so please change this (I already did in the Dutch readme cool).
